John Perkins mentions economic hit men in Latin America including Honduras on Democracy Now. |

Hello to all. :hi: Thought some in this forum would like to see this, if you haven't already. http://www.democracynow.org/2009/11/10/hoodwinked_former_economic_hit_man_john

1. Thanks, Mika. Perkins is the perfect spokesman for this issue. |

2. He says that the Honduran/Zelaya op was a replica of the Haiti/Aristide op. |
|
I remember many of us saying that early on.

4. Hi, Mika. Good to see you. This is a tremenous segment with John Perkins. |
|
It needs wide exposure. There are still so many people completely ignorant of what has been going on so long in our names. They need to wake the #### up and have a slight grasp of what has been happening to the people in these smaller, helpless countries, rather than living in blissful, self-centered ignorance for the rest of their lives.

5. Not a Freudian slip at all = "biggest employers in that company" |
|
JOHN PERKINS: Yeah. The democratically elected president, Zelaya, had called for a new constitution to replace the old one that was really set up by the oligarchy in favor of the very, very, very wealthy and the international companies. He also called for a 60 percent increase in the bottom wage rate, which had a huge impact on Dole and Chiquita, two of the biggest employers in that company. They, along with a number of companies that have sweatshops in Honduras, strongly objected, very much the same way that they had objected to Aristide in Haiti, when he did something similar, and called in the military.

6. That's exactly what he said. |
|
We're about to get it (actually, we are getting it) dropped on our own collective asses right here in the USA.
Very sadly, but luckily, I'm in the midst of preparations to move out of here (going to lose my shirt in those fake green pieces of paper, AKA: the US dollar, but I'm sure it will pay unmeasurable dividends).

7. By "out of here," are you saying away from Miami, Mika? Yikes! |
|
Good luck moving. That can be a real pain.
Let us know how it's going, o.k.?

8. Working to move to Ecuador. |
|
I'm in the process of (re)studying to take the dental board exams.
I fell in love with a woman and her country. She's gone, but Ecuador isn't.
I'll let you know what's up with the process.

9. This is a big decision! Really big. Looks as if you're damned serious. |
|
Thought maybe you were moving to another town in Florida, or moving your office, etc. I wasn't even in the ballpark!
Good luck with your board exams, and if you go, please consider sending some posts our way, from your next home. You are one person who really matters at D.U.
