US Used Manta Base in Ecuador to attack FARC Camp
Military Sources Confirm that the US used Manta Base to Attack FARC Camp

Military and diplomatic sources link the Manta Airbase, operated by the United States in Ecuadoran territory with the attack of the Colombian FARC guerrillas in which Raúl Reyes died.

The base, situated some 230 kilometers to the southeast of Quito, a port city on the Pacific ocean, was ceded for 10 years in 1999 to the United States Air Force for use in anti-drug trafficking activities in the northeast portion of South America.

A senior Ecuadoran military officer who asked that his name not be disclosed, assured IPS (InterPress Service) that "a good portion of commanders" are "convinced that the United States was complicit in the attack" launched March 1st in Ecuadoran territory against the FARC (Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia) camp located very close to the Colombian border.

1. Ecuador needs to do something about this. If nothing else, they should ask Bush to get his country
out of there immediately, since giving permission to use Manta would NOT extend permission to the U.S. to use its planes to serveil Ecuador and bomb it. No exceptions.

This has been discussed for day, in that it's believed only US planes could have spotted these guys and fixed the target, and also because of the sophistication of the weapons used.

Hoping to see more on this. It should not be allowed to stand unchecked.

2. There is one more detail
The manta base suppose according to plan Colombia to be surveying the air space in the area, no records of the air space surveillance for March 1st had been public so there is suspicions that at the base they know if Colombian airplanes or Helicopters enter Ecuador air space.
