Chile magnate likely to win vote with 52 pct - TV
Source: Reuters

SANTIAGO, Jan 17 (Reuters) - A conservative billionaire will likely narrowly win Chile's presidential election on Sunday, television channel Canal 13 said in a vote projection, putting him on course to end 20 years of center-left rule.

Canal 13 said Harvard-educated businessman Sebastian Pinera was likely to win with 52 percent of the vote, compared to 48 percent for former President Eduardo Frei. In the December first round, the station correctly predicted the outcome.

1. Pinochet's ghost returns to restore the right order of things in

Chile. Light-skinned, rich Chileans first, upper middle class Chileans next, then on down the ladder to the little people.

2. He will be elected though as contrary to Pinochet who took power by force.
I don't favor conservatives myself but at least he can be voted out at the next election when people realize what conservatives really do for them. I do like Frei. I hope he gets those extra votes.

7. It appears they only have room for the anti-Chavez threads, actually.
Almost everything else which involves the Western Hemisphere other than Canada gets catapulted right into the Latin America forum.

That's a whole lot of neighbors getting ignored, isn't it?

8. I really don't see the problem.
I mean, if the guy really attracts chiles, the whole country is going to be better off. Spicy food, increased exports...

...why are you all looking at me like that?
