US protects Bolivian terrorist
US protects Bolivian terrorist

Federico Fuentes
27 February 2010

The US authorities continue to harbour Branko Marinkovic, a leader of the Bolivian right-wing opposition accused of financing a terrorist cell to assassinate Bolivian President Evo Morales.

Evidence has now come to light that the CIA was receiving information from contacts close to the very same terrorist cell.

On April 16, 2009, Bolivian police stormed one of the rooms in the Hotel Las Americas in Santa Cruz to break up a group of foreign and Bolivian mercenaries who were part of a plan to assassinate the Bolivian president and vice president.

Bolivian attorney Marcel Soza revealed on February 11 that evidence obtained from the hotel room showed that Hungarian ex-military intelligence officer Istvan Belovai not only provided reports to the terrorist cell, but also sent information directly to the CIA.

Belovai’s reports were used by the anti-Morales group, the Supreme Council, which financed the paramilitary group’s activities. Marinkovic, a large landowner, was one of the leaders of the Supreme Council.

In 2008, Marinkovic was instrumental in the violent campaign waged by opposition forces in Bolivia’s east that aimed to overthrow Morales. He also heads up FULIDE, a fascist group whose members carry swastikas on their marches.

Despite strong evidence that he personally funded the terrorist cell to the tune of US$200,000, he has been living freely in the US since July 2009. He joins the long list of terrorists involved in campaigns against the Cuban, Venezuelan and Bolivian governments that are being harboured by the US.

1. Hi Judi. Please post this in the LBN Spain/Ven/ETA/FARC thread.

Funny thing is that all of those posters over there know that the US is harboring Cuban exile terrorists. We've posted many links in their threads.

2. Thanks, Mika. Just did it after seeing your post.
I'm sure I know already what the nazi response will be. They're NOTHING if not fantastically predictable.

3. What do you want to bet that Republicans will end the travel restrictions on Americans?
Anything seems possible in today's 'Murica.

4. Very possible once they've got it all figured how to get in there with their businesses.
Rep. Jeff Flake, R., who's been working on ending the ban for years just happens to be from Arizona, where the largest retirement community in the U.S., Sun City, was built by Del Webb. You can be sure Del Webb's company and others would kill to get first dibbs on Cuba.

It's so much cheaper to travel there than to more southern areas, and a lot of Cubans already know English. It's too good to ignore for greedbag republicans. They would want to make it WORSE than it was before the revolution, and they could damn well do it. They'd cover the island, and clog up the water with fast food wrappers, cans and bottles, and get that caste system back in place in a jiffy.

5. Remember this guy?

Hugo Acha, director of the NY-based "Human Rights Foundation" who promptly bugged out to the United States after the assassination plot against Morales was broken up? (The pix is one you posted last year.)

Then there is former Prez. Sanchez de Losada who is living in Maryland right next to Washington. Wanted in Bolivia for a massacre; extradition request so far ignored by the U.S. government.

7. Would think the plot was well under way
Edited on Tue Mar-02-10 02:36 AM by rabs

long before Obama was inaugurated a little over a year ago.

The Santa Cruz/Hungarian/Croatian/Irish/Bolivian mercenary gangsters were already organized by the time Obama came around.

I personally kinda doubt the CIA even knew about the plot, but quien sabe?

(edit to add the Irish guy who was shot to death.)

8. Well, some money to the fake Human Rights group tracks to USAID.
But, you're right. It did start up long before Obama, I forgot about that. They had to recruit those people and put them in place. That took some time.
