Cuba builds hurricane resistant tele towers
HAVANA, Mar 9 (NNN-PRENSA LATINA) – After years of investigations and losses for more than US$10 million in almost 15 years, Cuba has opened a laboratory to build telecommunication towers able to resist hurricanes and other climatic phenomena.

The laboratory was opened yesterday by the Cuban Minister of Informatics and Communications Ramiro Valdes Menendez, and Higher Education Minister Miguel Diaz-Canel.

Architect Vivian Elena, Director of the Telecommunication Towers Project said they expect to contribute to the reduction of the structural vulnerability of the towers.

>

The project wants to substitute import operations for local scientific investigations.
