Colombian politician: Candidates seek support in Venezuela
Gustavo Petro, a Colombian presidential candidate for left-wing opposition party Alternative Democratic Pole (PDA), acknowledged that some candidates to the legislative elections to be held next Sunday have sought support in Venezuela, which he described as improper.

"There are improper attitudes of members of our party on the border with Venezuela," said Petro in an interview with Colombian radio station Caracol Radio, Efe reported.

The presidential candidate said that some PDA members have requested cooperation from Venezuelan mayors in border municipalities to facilitate the logistical conditions necessary to hold political meetings with Colombians living in Venezuela.

However, he stressed that he has no information that Venezuelan mayors and political leaders are funding political campaigns in Colombia.

Colombia's President Álvaro Uribe highlighted on Wednesday that he has an intelligence report showing that a foreign government (which he would not specify) seeks to impose a new president in Colombia in the elections to be held on May 30.
