The Killing Machine: Che Guevara
And to think, you guys think Cheney should be prosecuted (as do I) but you worship this evil, cold-blooded killer:

http://www.independent.org/newsroom/article.asp?id=1535

Guevara murdered or oversaw the executions in summary trials of scores of people—proven enemies, suspected enemies, and those who happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

In January 1957, as his diary from the Sierra Maestra indicates, Guevara shot Eutimio Guerra because he suspected him of passing on information: “I ended the problem with a .32 caliber pistol, in the right side of his brain.... His belongings were now mine.” Later he shot Aristidio, a peasant who expressed the desire to leave whenever the rebels moved on. While he wondered whether this particular victim “was really guilty enough to deserve death,” he had no qualms about ordering the death of Echevarría, a brother of one of his comrades, because of unspecified crimes: “He had to pay the price.” At other times he would simulate executions without carrying them out, as a method of psychological torture.

..............................................................................................

I pleaded many times with Che on behalf of prisoners. I remember especially the case of Ariel Lima, a young boy. Che did not budge.

......................................................................................................

In 1958, after taking the city of Sancti Spiritus, Guevara unsuccessfully tried to impose a kind of sharia, regulating relations between men and women, the use of alcohol, and informal gambling—a puritanism that did not exactly characterize his own way of life.

......................................................................................................

This is how Che explained the function performed by this method of confinement: “ only send to Guanahacabibes those doubtful cases where we are not sure people should go to jail ... people who have committed crimes against revolutionary morals, to a lesser or greater degree.... It is hard labor, not brute labor, rather the working conditions there are hard.”

...........................................................................................................

So why don't you guys like Cheney? Not brutal enough for you?

1. Che took a good picture suitable for framing
Cheney, not so much.

That's one primary difference.

3. So you don't believe this?
You don't believe that Che orders thousands of executions?

4. I'm not that familiar. But the "Independant" isn't really. Is it?
It's a right-wing pro-corporate think-tank. Correct? So put up a few links from sources other than a capitalist tool editorial.

And don't be surprised if I'm not surprised that a lot of people were killed during a revolutionary war. That happens, you know.

5. What's a capitalist tool editorial?
A lot of people were killed in Cuba after the revolutionary war was over. That's a fact. I'm just providing it so you guys can argue over it.

14. I'm not arguing anything.
You posted a right-wing apologist's editorial. You provided no further info. And you did it so that people would "argue over it".

Is any of that consistent with being a good community member?

15. You never argue anything
you just change the subject or come up with reasons why you won't discuss the post.

18. Would you really blame protocol rv if he was running two id's?
It must get lonely posting right-wing BS on a progressive site. So I could understand someone using dual identities so they can keep themselves company.

LOL.

8. How much reading have you done on our treatment of British POWs
during our revolution?

Seriously, you need to get out more and get some air up there.

10. Focus up if you can let go of your flamebaiting long enough.
You set up the straw man, Che is Cheney, so defend Cheney, and then expect this forum to just fall in line and gratify you?

Good luck with that.

11. Actually, Che is a million times worse than Cheney.
And besides, this is just one more excuse for you, there is zero format under which you won't try to change the topic when one of your heroes is criticized.

except of course it is a fact that you always divert the topic on every single thread that is negative about your murderous, dictatorial, speech-suppressing heroes.

6. This reeking steaming load really gets around a lot, doesn't he?
It's his way of being antisocial without having to run the risk of being arrested.

God forbid he should ever feel moved to become an honest man. The effort would destroy him, and leave the international teabaggers with no Latin American "authority" to spew regular installments of completely unwholesome slime.
