1. Los San Patriocios. Brave, good men, fighting on the right side.
What a shame justice was not served.

No wonder we didn't hear a lot about this in OUR school history classes!

Thank you, Xipe Totec.

2. I'm just celebrating

One of my cousins just announced the birth of his sixth child; the second readhead in his brood.

Yes, I am a descendant of the the colorados, the readheaded Irish fighters.

Not all of them perished that day at Churubusco.

PS: Both of my natural born children have red beards.

3. It's one amazing heritage. Wonderful learning they didn't get them all,
and that there are people around who can tell the story to people who'd never know otherwise.

There's no reason in the world why people moving west should not have moved there peacefully, doing it the way conscientious, decent people do things.

War against the native people living there should have been out of the question. Those who would do otherwise are NOT good people.

Long live the memory of los colorados. It sounds as if your family will be living evidence of them for a long time to come!

5. They are keeping the memory of the brigade alive, it's moving.
Watched some more videos from the options in the right column, as well. I'll bet a lot of people have learned about their service to Mexico through their public appearances. They are excellent to witness, very well organized, and performed.

It would stand to reason these descendants are very well appreciated in Mexico, and it's clear their bond, identity run deep, too.

Great links.
