CARACAS, Venezuela – Venezuela's top prosecutor says the owner of a television channel critical of President Hugo Chavez has been arrested.

Attorney General Luisa Ortega Diaz says a warrant was issued for the arrest of Guillermo Zuloaga, the owner of the TV channel Globovision.

Zuloaga told Globovision that military intelligence agents detained him at an airport in the northwestern state of Falcon.

Zuloaga says prosecutors are investigating him for statements he made during a recent meeting of newspaper owners, who criticized Chavez's government for limiting freedom of expression.
