When Chavez came in, he said if you own two houses, you have to give one to the government."

Silva said his family owned two houses. They, like many Venezuelans, got fed up with Chavez's rules and moved to the United States.

"Venezuela is kind of like Cuba now," Silva said. "People born in Venezuela can't leave the country."
