Two more journalists shot, killed in Honduras

Ballardo Mairena and Manuel Juárez were driving in Olancho province when they were ambushed by hitmen in another vehicle. Olancho is the home province of Manuel Zelaya.

Mairena was dead at the scene, Juárez died enroute to a hospital. Both were news broadcasters for a local radio station.

No motive or identification of the gunmen.

The two deaths raise to seven the number of journalists killed since loboletti took over from the golpista micheletti in January.

Now, what was Hillary saying just a few days ago about "democratic" Honduras ....?

Honduras Shooting Brings Journalist Death Toll to 5 in March
March 27, 2010, 12:22 AM EDT

By Blake Schmidt
as
March 26 (Bloomberg) -- Honduran journalists Bayardo Mairena and Manuel Juarez were murdered in a highway shooting today, bringing this month’s death toll for journalists to five, said Honduran police spokeswoman Elsa Rodriguez.

Mairena and Juarez were shot after directing a program for the local station Radio Excelsior in the town of Catacamas, according to the daily La Tribuna. Rodriguez said by phone that police have no suspects in the case and have not established a motive.

Nahum Palacios, a news director for TV Channel 5, was gunned down March 14 after receiving threats by military officials for critical coverage of last year’s coup that ousted President Manuel Zelaya, according to a statement by the Committee to Protect Journalists.

David Meza, a correspondent for Radio America who covered organized crime and drug trafficking, was shot to death on March 11, the committee said.

Hillary has made some horrible moves in her brief time as the Sec. of State. Geez.

2. and here is the last paragraph that was left out for some reason
Joseph Hernandez, who hosted a TV entertainment show on Channel 51, was shot and killed on March 1 while driving with Karol Cabrera, a TV program host for state TV Channel 8 and outspoken supporter of the coup, the committee said.

3. Yes, five so far this month and seven since loboletti took over according to Telesur

and by the way:

Joseph Hernandez, who hosted a TV entertainment show on Channel 51, was shot and killed on March 1 while driving with Karol Cabrera, a TV program host for state TV Channel 8 and outspoken supporter of the coup, the committee said.

-----------

Saw couple of days ago where Cabrera is refusing to leave the hospital where she has been treated for gunshot wounds. She said she was seeking "political asylum" in the hospital until she was allowed to leave Honduras for exile.

Her daughter, 16, was shot and killed in Teguz two/three months ago and now the mother has become the target. Of course she blames the Resistance for the attack that killed her daughter and against her, although there is no proof, as usual.

4. ahhh oK, so we don't have evidence of political motives thus far
so it could certainly be the case that its just a continuation of violence problems in Honduras that peaked under Zelaya's tenure.

5. Nope, but here is a clue for you

This violence can be attributed to Colombia's FARC and ELN combined with the Shining Path in Peru in complicity with the Tupamaros in Uruguay who worked with the Montoneros and the People's Revolutionary Army in Argentina and the Manuel Rodriguez Front in Santiago.

6. I'll bet the Russians, and the I.R.A., are connected, and surely E.T.A.
It's just a matter of time until they find it all spelled out on the magic laptop.
