Cuba Lambastes Bush Envoy to Europe

BERLIN, April 9.— Cuban Ambassador to Germany Gerardo Penalver voiced his
country’s objection to the German government over the upcoming Berlin visit
of the Bush administration’s so-called “Cuba Transition Coordinator.”

“We reject this visit to Berlin and have made it known to the German
authorities through the established official and diplomatic channels,” said
Penalver in an interview with DPA news agency.

“Mr. McCarry represents an illegal mandate that violates international law
since his job is to bring about a change of government in Cuba,” denounced
Penalver.

The ambassador noted that the “Cuba Transition Coordinator” has received US
$60 million added to the $200 million budgeted “for subversion and
destabilization efforts.”

“We believe we are in our right to publicly denounce this ploy designed to
sabotage the efforts Cuba has made in recent months to improve relations
with the European Union,” said Penalver in an attempt to make the island’s
position known.

This “loathsome character,” scheduled to visit Berlin on Thursday April 10,
“embodies the mandate of the Bush administration’s plan to convert Cuba into
a neo-colony of the United States. It’s unacceptable, we condemn it and
reject it,” Penalver stressed.

“Taking advantage of this new tour by Mr. McCarry, his third since being
named to this post in July 2005, we want to emphasize that the Cuban people
are the legitimate owners of their destiny and it corresponds to them only
to choose their political, economic and social system without interference
of any kind,” concluded the diplomat.

1. Cuba is 100% right to protest vigorously wherever this asshole goes.
Here's a photo of the jerk, Caleb McCarry:

Anti-Cuban offensive routed in Dublin as Caleb McCarry beats a hasty retreat

George W Bush designated proconsul for Cuba fails to convince on Anti-Cuban policies

Caleb McCarry, the US "Transitional Coordinator for Cuba's" low key address to the students of Politics at University College Dublin thisafternoon was greeted by a lively band of demonstrators who responded to an emergency call to action by Free the Miami Five and other long time friends of Cuba.

Having risk-assessed the assembled crowd of protestors, the meeting was delayed in starting whilst college authorities called in the Irish police to provide protection to McCarry. After the police had swept another classroom - presumably for IEDs - the protestors were advised they would be told where the new room was if they agreed to hold a peaceful protest.

No such undertaking was given as some students had already managed to find out and communicate the alternate location. In any event, the protestors were from many different political persuasions and few, if any, were willing to contemplate any negotiations with the handmaidens of imperialism.

The protestors hastily gathered up their banners from all around the previous room and hot-footed off down the corridor to the new room, the entrance to which was lined with 8 Irish police officers (quite possibly the entire police deployment for South Dublin) and the head of college security, who visually scanned them for evidence of dangerous weaponry as they entered.

Approximately 35 people squeezed into the non-descript alternate classroom where the chalk board still proclaimed the finer points of Euclidian geometry. About 6 students appeared interested to hear what Mr McCarry had to say, although only two (both, interestingly enough, with heavy Germanic accents) actually expressed any support for hearing his thoughts.

More, with photos! Looks as if he got a good ass-whuppin'!

3. Sweden Warned of US Cuba Scheme
Sweden Warned of US Cuba Scheme
Stockholm, Apr 12 (Prensa Latina) The Swedish government was warned of new pressures by the United States on European Union (EU) countries to join the growing hostility against Cuba.

The warning was contained in a letter by Tomas Wilden, member of the Swedish-Cuba Association, to Per Norstrom and Hanna Lambert, deputy director and official, respectively, of the Swedish Foreign Ministry´s Americas desk.

The text called attention to the tour of different European countries by Caleb McCarry, US State Department Cuba Transition Coordinator.

The purpose of his tour is to force European leaders to reject lifting measures adopted by the EU against Cuba in 2003, a subject that will be analyzed in June by the continental organization, the letter warned.

Elimination of the EU position would mean an improvement of relations with the Island, Wilson adds.

The letter expresses amazement that a foreign power like the United States considers the social system in Cuba unacceptable and assumes the right to threaten, attack, blockade and use violence to work against it.

It adds that the Washington plan against Cuba has a secret section that "can only refer to none other than military actions."

Widen also presides the Swedish committee for the freedom of the Five Cuban anti-terrorists jailed in the United States.
