Spanish paper El Pais article on the FARC

El Tiempo refers to an 18 page article in written in the Spanish El Pais concerning the FARC

"El periódico español dedicó 18 páginas a varios artículos que muestran un panorama de la guerrilla, sus nexos con el narcotráfico y la crueldad del secuestro."

The Spanish newspaper dedicated 18 pages in various articles that shows the panoram of the guerrillas, their nexus with narcotrafficking and the cruelty of kidnapping.

another interesting point in the El Tiempo article:


De acuerdo con Carlin, las Farc se han debilitado en los últimos tiempos. En 2007 desertaron 2.400 guerrilleros, y quedan 12.000 de los 16.000 combatientes con que contaba a fines de los noventa. Entonces la guerrilla controlaba 120 municipios; hoy, ninguno.

According to Carlin, the FARC has been debilitated recently. In 2007, 2,400 guerrillas deserted, leaving 12,000 of the 16,000 that existed during the end of the 1990s. Then, the FARC controlled 120 municipalities; today, not one.
