Senator Piedad Córdoba sanctioned for collaboration with the FARC. She has been banned from holding office for 18 years.

While I have specific disagreements concerning some of her words and actions, Piedad Córdoba is one of a relatively small number of people who have honestly engaged in the thankless work of trying to find the road to peace and, in that sense, she deserves a lot more credit than what she actually receives.

Instead of trying to disagree with her through peaceful and reasonable means, her life gets threatened and her integrity is slandered far too often. I do not trust the Inspector General, Alejandro Ordoñez, because he is an arch-conservative and his record proves he is more of an Uribe pawn than, say, Santos (who, whatever one might say, at least is trying to distance himself with respect to certain matters).

If this was the outcome of a prosecution by the Attorney General or the Supreme Court I'd be far more inclined to believe in the decision. Since that isn't the case...suffice to say, I will continue to believe in her innocence until and unless she loses her appeal.
