Chavez pledges oil to Belarus for 200 years
<snip>

In one of his typical flamboyant gestures, Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez on Saturday promised to provide oil to the former Soviet republic of Belarus for the next 200 years.

Chavez, who was visiting Belarus on Saturday, promised that Belarusian refineries — the backbone of the country's economy — "would feel no shortages of oil in the next 200 years."

Venezuela in March agreed to ship 80,000 barrels of heavy crude a day to Belarus as well as create a joint venture to develop oil and natural gas projects in this South American country.

Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko, who critics have dubbed "Europe's last dictator," is anxious to diversify away from Russian oil supplies as his relations with Moscow grow increasingly sour. Lukashenko is facing a presidential election in December but Moscow has so far refrained from endorsing his bid.

1. Typical Associated Pukes 'colorful' writng to dis Chavez...
This deal is neither "flamboyant" nor a "gesture." Venezuela most certainly DOES have the oil (--among the biggest oil reserves on earth; twice Saudi Arabia's, according to recent USGS report) (--why do we suppose that our real rulers--Exxon Mobil & brethren--hate Chavez so much?; cuz he cut a much better oil deal for Venezuela and its social programs!). The Belarus deal is a concrete, written agreement that will be delivering lots of oil to Belarus and can well do so for 200 years.

And I see that the Pukes are using the same tactic on Lukashenko that they have used on Chavez--"His critics say...". No quote. No names. No attribution. Who ARE these "critics" who have "dubbed" Lukashenko "Europe's last dictator"? Was this the scuttlebutt among Associated Pukes' editors, reporters and word processors, around the water cooler in the news room? Among the owners in the board room? Contained in the fax from Langley? It's quite important, actually, who said it. (Putin?) Not. A. Clue.

And the proper word is "whom" ("...whom critics have dubbed...".) The Pukes can't even follow grammar rules, let alone the rules of objective, informative journalism.

Stinks to high heaven.

And while the Pukes are busy trying to make trouble between Lukashenko and Putin, Chavez moves right along to Russia and makes a deal with them--one that our other set of corporate rulers (the war profiteers) must surely hate Chavez for. The Bushwhacks denied machine parts for repairs to military aircraft that Venezuela has bought in the U.S., so the Chavez government is moving Venezuela's military business elsewhere. It's called a FREE market. Ha-ha-ha!
