President Hugo Chávez postponed his visit to Libya, scheduled for Friday, because he decided to stay another day in Syria.

Sources of the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry said that the Venezuelan Head of State could travel on Friday night or Saturday morning to Tripoli, the Libyan capital, and that the visit to Portugal would be postponed until Sunday in order to end his international tour.

Chávez will meet with the Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi in Tripoli. They will discuss a project to establish the so-called South Atlantic Treaty Organization (SATO), as opposed to NATO, composed of northern countries, said a report published by Efe.

The project championed by Gaddafi and supported by Chávez seeks to create a cooperation organization based on a South-South dialogue between Africa and Latin America.
