5. Three deletes and no participants in the DU meetup!?
I have always wanted to see for myself and have done so in a number of Latin American countries. Especially the banned one.

6. what's on the agenda??
anyway if you want to go, why don't you go see it for yourself? its actually quite astonishing the number of Chavistas on DU who have actually never been to Venezuela to see perfection in action.

11. Bacchus, don't get people in trouble
The crime rate in Venezuela is too high to encourage these innocent Americans to travel there. Evidently those who go would get a shock if they get to see real life - evidently if they go through a government propaganda agency they won't see reality. I hear that famous black actor who is a Chavez backer came in and they took him to the potemking housing across from El Limon. They painted El Limon to make it look very quaint, but the houses are still crashing down. And I suppose nobody told the guy El Limon is deadly at night, and nobody dares walk around in the open after 8 PM.

8. It wasn't. It contained the usual from "ignored."
There's a fantastic poster from the US who is working in the country now, admires, respects the people and the government. She's at Merida. Justinaforjustice. Excellent person.

Others have lived there, one moved back to England who was in Caracas during the coup, "Pescao." All very intelligent progressives.

Time's an issue for some of us, but the idea is tremendous. I'll bet if enough DU'ers see the post it's very likely you'd get some very enthusiastic answers.
