Peru ex-media boss Jose Enrique Crousillat captured

Peruvian police say they have captured former media baron Jose Enrique Crousillat during a raid in the capital, Lima. He had been in hiding since last March when President Alan Garcia revoked a humanitarian pardon. Crousillat was originally jailed for eight years for corruption in 2006. He was released in December 2009 after complaining of heart problems but seen in restaurants and on beaches enjoying apparently good health.

President Garcia said he had been tricked and the manhunt began.

Crousillat came to prominence a decade ago when a grainy video showed him receiving wads of cash piled high on a coffee table. At the time he was the owner of Peru's most influential TV channel. He was caught taking the payoffs from former intelligence chief Vladimiro Montesinos, to run favourable news about his boss, the then president, Alberto Fujimori.
