Uruguayan Court Retakes HR Violations Cases
Edited on Mon Jan-31-11 04:23 PM by dipsydoodle
Montevideo, Jan 31 (Prensa Latina) About 30 retired Uruguayan military officers will be summoned to court for their involvement in serious human rights violations during the 1973-1985 dictatorship, the local press reported on Monday.

With the end of the summer holidays, Uruguayan courts will resume their activities tomorrow, when Judge Mariana Mota and prosecutor Ana Maria Tellechea will begin questioning 15 former military officers, according to press reports.

Those officers will be asked about the disappearance of Communist Party member Horacio Gelos Bonilla, a process that is part of the case against former dictator Juan Maria Bordaberry on charges of violating the Constitution.

1. Oh, this is outstanding news.Don't you imagine it became possible because they elected a progressive
President, a firm, honed-by-raging-fire, virtuous human as their leader?

With so much time lost in the countries formerly controlled by fascists, as the succeeding whore Presidents made sure those responsible were given immunity, it looked as if hell itself would protect these filthy maggots, spare them the consequences of their crimes against life, against humanity, against their moral superiors.

To see this happening in a country which hired the U.S. Republican Presidents' favorite torturer, Dan Mitrione, is a stroke of justice kept from the world far too long. (It's such a vile reality that one of Mitrione's sons became an F.B.I. official, is it not? Christ.)

Thanks for being the one who dropped this good news bomb here. I surely hope far more will come of this, that they won't be shy, won't hang back and quiver in their boots about going after these dirty pompous, diseased torturers and murderers.

Good to celebrate a turn toward justice today. :bounce: :woohoo:
