In an interview published by French newspaper Le Monde, the Salvadoran president pointed out that the Farabundo Martí National Liberation Front (FMLN) he leads "remains close to Venezuela and Cuba." However, he clarified that his party "has managed to blend realism and pragmatism to adapt to democratic life."
"It would not be possible to adopt the Cuban model here (in El Salvador), and Havana is reforming such model because it is no longer feasible," he added.
