Georgetown University in Washington D.C. have announced that former Colombian President Alvaro Uribe will not be returning as a guest lecturer after the spring semester.

University spokesperson Julie Bataille said earlier this month,"President Uribe's engagement at Georgetown was for one academic year and that will be complete later this semester."

~snip~
Numerous student protests organized by the group "Adios Uribe" took place as a result of Colombia's human rights record under Uribe's administration from 2002 to 2010. Students argued that Uribe's record disqualified him from being an ideal representation of Georgetown's ethics in educating future leaders.

Uribe's lecture series was kept private, apparently in an attempt by the former president to avoid controversy within his own classes.
