Wives of political prisoners denounce Venezuelan judiciary
http://washingtonexaminer.com/blogs/beltway-confidential/2011/04/wives-political-prisoners-denounce-venezuelan-judiciary-0

"It’s hard to fight. We have nowhere to look," said Tahianny Pisani Romero, wife of Brigadier Army General Delfin Gomez Parra, who has been detained for five years without trial because the judge who was supposed to try him has been on leave for two years.

Parra was the head of a military unit overseeing construction of a sugar-processing plant in Barinas, the home state of Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez. He was accused of corruption when funds went missing during the construction, but his wife says Parra was the one who uncovered the corruption and was punished for trying to expose it. The Venezuela Awareness Foundation says the accusation was full of irregularities.

"My 15-year-old has been five years without a father," said Pisani, adding that living far from the Caracas prison makes visits very difficult for the family.

Pisani was joined by three other wives of Venezuelan prisoners. Jackelin Sandoval, the wife of Rolando Guevara Perez, said the witness who testified that her husband had murdered a federal prosecutor was paid by the government and operated under false credentials, a claim substantiated by Venezuela's Globovision.

1. The "Venezuela Awareness Foundation"? Hm. More USAID-funded bullshit?
Next, the incubators.

Which "Venezuela's Globovision" will surely "substantiate," when the U.S. war machine decides to make its move.

Sorry, but I cannot believe ANYTHING promoted by the corpo-fascist press about Venezuela. It may be true. It may be partially true. It may be entirely concocted in Langley. We cannot tell. BILLIONS of our tax dollars are being funneled to groups like this, which concoct "talking points" to be promulgated by the corpo-fascist press, which has lied about, distorted, omitted important information, used various brain-washing techniques and completely misrepresented news from Venezuela, time and again.

So, frankly, I just laugh when I read stories like this. And stories like this--anti-Chavez stories--are pretty much the only thing you post. So you are suspect as well. Why don't you concern yourself with the murders of trade unionists, human rights workers, teachers, community activists, journalists, peasant farmers and others in the U.S. client states of Colombia and Honduras, or the utterly fraudulent elections that the U.S. has arranged in Honduras and Haiti--instead of picking on Chavez, who was honestly elected and who has helped the poor, and recently earned Venezuela designation as "THE most equal country in Latin America" on income distribution, by the UN Economic Commission on Latin America and the Caribbean? Hm? No, you dig up stuff from the "Washington Examiner" to just keep hammering away at Chavez, while completely ignoring and never mentioning any of the considerable accomplishments of the Chavez government and the people of Venezuela, and never pointing out the utter and massive injustice and carnage of U.S.-supported rightwing governments in Latin America.

There are plenty of "enemy combatants" languishing for a decade now, in U.S. torture dungeons. Why doesn't that concern you? There are thousands upon thousands of poor people unjustly convicted of minor drug and other non-violent offenses, languishing in the U.S. prison system, with draconian sentences, for lack of adequate legal defense--a veritable "gulag" of U.S. oppression. There are additionally thousands of people--most of them Latin Americans--imprisoned in U.S. immigration detention centers--some of them not guilty of anything, others guilty of paper work mistakes or of merely seeking work. How come you don't post stories about these fascist victims? Maybe because the corpo-fascist press ignores them, too, and that colors your view of the world? The poor suffering in our exceedingly unjust prison system don't exist, because the corpo-fascist press doesn't give a crap about them? And you?

Oh, but let Venezuela's justice system exhibit a flaw (if it has) and you're all over it!
