Colombian Nazis celebrate Hitler's birthday in Bogota

122 Colombian Nazis met in a Bogota hotel on Easter weekend to commemorate Adolf Hitler's 122nd birthday, newspaper Semana reported Sunday.

On the walls of the establishment, the group mounted photos of Hitler, along with the Nazi motto "Ein Volk, ein Reich, ein Fuhrer" (One people, one empire, one leader). The military dress of those present was decorated with various insignias, including that of the extinct National Socialist Worker's Party, and the letters T and F to represent the group's name.

Diego said that the Nazis do not consider themselves illegal, as they are guaranteed the right to freedom of expression by the Colombian constitution. He said that they are a "cultural association" that defends "a cultural and ethical heritage, love for our nation and affiliation with the national socialist family."

The group meets two times a week, and members are indoctrinated with lectures and video discussions, as well as participating in some military-style physical training. The majority of the group, according to Semana, is composed of members under 25 years of age, and some children were present with their parents at the meeting.

Some of the armbands are from the Franco Falange; the song they sang was "Cara al Sol," (Face to the Sun), the anthem of the Franco fascists. The T and F mentioned stands for "Third Force,' a Spanish-language play on "Third Reich."

Like good, numbers-oriented Nazis, they invited 122 members to commemorate Hitler's 122th birthday. One of their spokesmen said the group was not racist and insisted the Jews are the world's enemies.

The funny thing is that some of these fanatics probably would not have passed the Nazi "racial purity" test. The meeting lasted three hours, then they packed up and faded into the Bogota night.

How odd it is to see a room full of lunatics trying so hard to imitate the ways and mannerisms of a group of people from another time and place, attempting to wear their disguises as their own stance toward the world.

Truly insane. It was amazing seeing how closely they have watched those newsreels, how hard they are trying to duplicate the attitutes, tones, posturing, hostility of a criminal, loutish group of people the world felt obligated to overthrow at any price.

It's not that uncommon to see neo-Nazi types in the US, but you can tell from a mile away they are usually stupid to the point of being near brain-damaged, and clearly doomed to a disordered, and thwarted life. These Colombian guys seem so much more organized! Determined, and sure of themselves. Yuck. Too bad they can't remember how the 3rd Reich ended, and save themselves a lot of trouble.
