MIAMI — A total of 47 migrants are back in the Dominican Republic after the U.S. Coast Guard intercepted them at sea.

The Coast Guard says the crew of the Miami-based cutter Ocracoke helped detain another eight people for prosecution following two at-sea detentions on Thursday and Friday.

At least three of those individuals were detained for attempting to illegally enter the United States on at least two occasions. The United States Attorney’s Office in Puerto Rico will prosecute their cases.
