Barrancabermeja NGOs denounce threats by ‘Águilas Negras’

... The NGOs sent out a joint press release, stating that five organizations, as well as workers and managers of Ecopetrol, Colombia’s state oil company, were threatened by the ‘Águilas Negras’.

The organizations saidone of the organizations received a letter last Thursday, announcing the paramilitaries declared members of several unions active in the Ecopetrol area “military objectives”, meaning these person are on the death list of the paramilitary group. The letter was signed by the “Commander of the Águilas Negras of Colombia zone” ...

Un comunicado del llamado "Espacio de trabajadores y trabajadoras de derechos humanos" de Barrancabermeja, en la región del Magdalena Medio, precisa que las amenazas provienen de grupos conocidos como 'Las Águilas Negras'. Las ONG precisan que las advertencias han sido lanzadas a cinco de las organizaciones así como a directivos y trabajadores de (Adeco), de la Empresa Colombiana de Petróleos (Ecopetrol), cuya principal refinería tiene sede en ese puerto sobre el río Magdalena.

Los denunciantes recuerdan, entre los últimos hechos, cómo el pasado jueves llegó a una de las organizaciones amenazadas, el anuncio escrito donde se declara "objetivo militar", entre otros, a los integrantes de Adeco, de la Unión Sindical Obrera (Uso, sindicato petrolero) y a la Organización Femenina Popular (OFP).

El anuncio o amenaza está firmado por el llamado "comandante de zona Águilas Negras de Colombia", señala el comunicado. Esta "acción intimidatoria se suma a la larga lista de amenazas recibidas por estas y otras organizaciones en lo transcurrido del año", recuerda también la denuncia.

Esas advertencias, dicen también los denunciantes, se relacionan "con patrullajes nocturnos realizados por hombres armados y encapuchados" en algunos sectores de Barrancabermeja. Añaden que les "preocupa la actitud de las autoridades civiles y militares de querer desvirtuar esta realidad, negando la presencia de estas estructuras al servicio del crimen" ...

1. Oil company employees, etc. So much for the bogus claim that Uribe actually
"dismantled the paramilitaries," eh?

As even A-I says, they NEVER disbanded, they only formed new groups with new names, and they've always been in business doing what they always did. People have continued to be murdered, especially union activists. They even murdered some people in a peace community, which is a proclaimed neutral community, trying HARD to keep out of harm's way.

You remember when the anti-paras groups announced an anti-death squad peace march, Uribe started targeting the peace march organizers publicly, and then they started getting death threats, and soon, badda-bing, SIX OF THEM WERE SLAUGHTERED by the new death squads.

Black Hawks were involved in that, too. They didn't bother to conceal their names when they called in their death threats to the victims.
