Venezuelan paper factory stops operations
Venezuelan paper factory stops operations

Operations of the Venezuelan endogenous paper industry (Invepal) have been shut down for one month and a half by lack of supplies, workers said.

The company, which is among of a number of factories the Venezuelan government took over in 2005 in order to implement the so-called joint management model, has stopped operations several times this year. The pulp used to manufacture paper has not arrived in time to the plant. The input is imported from countries such as Chile and Canada.

According to Invepal worker Noel Capote, the situation should be resolved Monday, when the plant is expected to restart operations definitively.

To ensure the supply of pulp, the company has scheduled the import of raw material as well as paper reels so that Invepal can continue operations and there is no need to stop production if supply of pulp does not arrive on time.
