Bolivian Defense Minister: No foreign intervention. That means you Hugo

Bolivia needs no foreign help, says Minister
Politics Bolivian Defense Minister Walker San Miguel replied to Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez by saying that his country does not need foreign intervention. San Miguel supported an earlier statement made by the Bolivian armed forces commander in chief, General Luis Trigo.

"We, Bolivians, will solve our own problems among ourselves. We will pacify Pando," said the minister in reference to the Bolivian department, near the Brazilian border, where the government of President Evo Morales declared martial law after some violent clashes on Thursday left at least thirty people dead and dozens injured, EFE reported.

San Miguel reacted in this way to an offer of help from President Chávez, who pledged armed support to Bolivia should President Evo Morales face a coup or be assassinated.

"The commander in chief of the Bolivian armed forces (Trigo) has been very emphatic as to they (the army) are with their country. We do not need any foreign intervention," added San Miguel.

Last Friday, General Trigo rejected "any meddling" and maintained that "no foreign troops would be permitted to set foot on Bolivian soil."
