1. So damned sorry, Billy Burnett. They ARE entrenched so deeply, and vicious. |
|
Mario Diaz-Balart even created his own job by gerrymandering it from the Florida House of Representatives so he could leap right from the state level to the national level in one quick move.
These guys have had the backing of the C.A.N.F., and have had it reinforced by welding themselves to the most violent, sociopathic element in the country, perhaps, those who covertly worked killing people all over the world in order to rid the world of leftists, real or imagined.
It's going to take deep excavation to get them out, or maybe something as hard to accept as patience, while the demographics of South Florida give way to more new faces moving into the area to break up that rock hard cluster of racist, power mad hard right extremists running roughshod over everyone within range, the same element Cuba had to remove for survival's sake, and to preserve hope itself.
Hoping the next few years will chasten them, Billy Burnett, and time will wear them down.
Your link is the first look I've seen at how they responded to Obama, however. That's TREMENDOUS.

3. Maybe Debbie Wasserman Schultz should have helped Dems instead of looking out for cretins. |
|
Click on the above posted link and see that she won overwhelmingly, so any support she would have lent to the Miami-Dade Dems certainly wouldn't have risked her seat.
Although she's a pretty good Dem on many issues, DW-S seems to have formed a RW pro Israel and anti Cuba coalition with the entrenched kleptocrat exile piranhas - in a "you scratch my back and I'll scratch yours" relationship.
Oh well, maybe next time. (Not holding my breath.)

4. Yep.She may just not need any help from them politically, but she does need them not to go after her! |
|
Maybe it's more a "you scratch my back and maybe I won't car bomb your ass!" They do have some explosive friends at their beck and call, don't they?
That's an impressive percetage she got. Wow.
If it's not for physical survival's sake, it probably is very much as you say. I think that's the arrangement they have with Greg Meeks, too, and probably what they've had with Bill Nelson and Bob Graham. Everyone is old enough to have a very clear memory of what happens when the right-wing reactionaries really go after people who don't see eye to eye with them. It's a very unequal conflict.
