Betancourt's former husband presents ambassadorial credentials in Costa Rica


SAN JOSE -- Fabrice Delloye, the ex-husband of former Colombian guerrilla hostage Ingrid Betancourt, on Thursday presented his credentials as France's ambassador to Costa Rica President Oscar Arias, authorities said.

The Costa Rican president's office said in a communique that Delloye has a degree from the Superior Institute of Commerce in Paris and has served as commercial attache at France's General Directorate of the Treasury and Economic Policy.

In 1975, he joined the French Teaching Service on Mauritius and worked as an adjunct commercial attache for the Economy and Finance Ministry's Directorate of Foreign Economic Relations.

The new French envoy to Costa Rica has been an economic advisor at several French embassies: in the Seychelles during the 1980s, in the Dominican Republic from November 2000 to July 2003 and in Ecuador from July 2003 until July 2004.
