Obama: Flew back from Hawaii. GWB: Played guitar.
And he probably didn't play guitar very well.

At least we have a President who presumes nothing and is more than willing to cut his vacation short when his beeper goes off.

1. I believe that the President remained in Hawaii and made his statement from there

3. Correct. Another example of how folks project what they want to see on Obama.
This is not worth flying back to DC.

He handled it correctly.

9. No, it was another example of believing the
"media".

12. Tab cited no media in the OP. The media wanted the contrast with Bush to be visibly great.

Instead, it was substantively great.

The prez did exactly as he should have for show and behind closed doors. No preening necessary. Whew!

6. Don't know, but my wife is watching MSM in the other room and that's what they said

Of course, MSM needs to be taken with a grain of salt on big things, but this seemed a silly thing to lie about and easy to prove one way or another.

Maybe they just got it wrong in the "heat of the moment"; we had the ambulance story at the same time.

11. President Obama was playing a golf game and a child of
another golfer was injured at the house where they are staying. He cut the game short and they all rushed back to the location. The child busted a chin wide open and needed stitches.

President Obama made his statement from Hawaii.

13. I remember laughing when a college history professor said
something someone had said should be taken with a POUND of salt! Wish I could remember who it was, but apropos here, eh?

2. I think Obama is still in Hawaii.
Don't think he has flown back yet.

8. Indeed. Here's an AP photo of Obama arriving at the Marine Corps Base in Kaneohe Bay.

10. He's actually capable of being in more than one place at a time...
.... little know fact. (And also explains the birth country confusion.) :)

4. I get your point, but the biggest difference is that no one died
in this instances.....
and we all should be grateful,
as I'm sure this President is! :)

15. Obama is still on vacation
I'm not faulting him for that - I don't believe this incident is quite the crisis that demands immediate stateside attendance but you should get your facts straight

16. Agreed - nobody died, we were lucky, this isn't an incident worthy of an emergency return to DC. n/t

17. I don't believe every scenario for our safety can ever be covered
but Mr. Crotch Bomber has taught us the value of remaining alert and vigilant when faced with immediate danger - the authorities cannot be everywhere and be right and 100% of the time so we the people must do our part
