Chavez says Obama "illusion" over
CARACAS (Reuters) - Venezuela's President Hugo Chavez said in a New Year's message the "illusion" around President Barack Obama was over and rich nations had left the world on the verge of ecological disaster.

Quoting from both Karl Marx and the Virgin Mary, Latin America's leading critic of U.S. power said only socialist and Christian principles could right the wrongs of capitalism.

"It's not an easy task, I acknowledge," Chavez said in a written message carried by state media on Monday.

Chavez initially sought to foster good ties with Obama, shaking his hand and giving him a book at a regional summit. But he has been increasingly critical of late, saying Obama failed to curb "imperialist" policies in Afghanistan and Iraq, and was tolerant toward a coup leader in Honduras.

26. No, unfortunately it's not. And it was made in the context of Copenhagen
where Chavez got a standing O and Obama created a lot of disappointment.

That was a terrible week for the president, though. The Nobel speech problem, Copenhagen and the giveaway to the insurance industry. I hope he doesn't have many more weeks like that in his presidency.

17. Chavez review:
Chavez has diverted a percentage of Corporate Profits to:

*Feed the Hungry

*House the Homeless

*Provide Health Care to The Sick

*Educate the Ignorant

YES!!!!
I can see why some here absolutely HATE Chavez.
But that doesn't matter.
Venezuela belongs to The Venezuelans,
and I can see why THAT outrages some here.

Colombia still belongs to the US (so far), so put your eggs in THAT basket if you hate Chavez and support puppet Right Wing dictators who retain power through US Trained Death Squads and Billions of your money if "Foreign Aid".
Obama and The Democrats have put their eggs in that basket, so you have company.

I don't care what he does or does not do for Venezuela. That's up to the people of Venezuela and they approve of him. But I also don't really care who he deems worthy of praise because his judgment has not been the best on that issue.

20. "We are here to welcome you, brother Ahmadinejad. Leader. Brother. Comrade," Chavez said.
CNN) -- Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad received a warm reception Wednesday from Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, wrapping up a three-nation visit to Latin America to shore up support against the United States.

Ahmadinejad arrived Tuesday night on a flight from Bolivia, where he spent a few hours meeting with President Evo Morales. The Iranian leader met Monday with Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.

On Wednesday afternoon, Chavez gave Ahmadinejad a warm welcome with full military honors. Wearing a dark suit with a blue shirt and red tie, Chavez stood at attention in front of Palacio de Miraflores as a military band played the national anthems for both countries.

The two men then reviewed the presidential honor guard, clad in bright red uniforms with gold piping and tall black hats with a red plume on top.

"We are here to welcome you, brother Ahmadinejad. Leader. Brother. Comrade," Chavez said.

43. Just check the screen names.
Same people.
Same Pro-Corporate messaging.
Coincidence?
I think not.

Then there are a couple of others that appear ONLY in Chavez threads to "catapult" the anti-Chavez propaganda. The word "Chavez" probably triggers a flag on some computer in a basement installation at a dark site somewhere.

The "Colonial Corporations" certainly have more to fear from Chavez and the Bolivarian Populist Reforms sweeping across Latin America than they have to fear from Obama. They have lost most of a continent in the last 10 years.
I guess that is an unintended consequence of the Bush Wars of Conquest in the Middle East....they took their eyes OFF of South America and The People voted IN people that spoke for them.

I can understand Chavez's and Latin America's disappointment with Obama.
They were applauding the whole "HOPE & CHANGE" Marketing. Chavez had made overtures of "welcome" toward Obama's new HOPE government. They undoubtedly feel the same disappointment when it turned out to be the Same Old Shit.

*More support for Right Wing Oligarchs with their American Trained Death Squads.

*More hostility toward emerging populist democracies.

This was another GREAT OPPORTUNITY blown by the Obama administration.
We SHOULD have thrown our unqualified SUPPORT behind these new democracies and their developing markets.
Instead, we have Doubled Down on the few remaining Police States with their Right Wing Puppet Dictators that ONLY cost us money and provide NO markets.
Oh Well.....What could have been.....

The Right Wing has been reduced to a toe hold in Latin America...and will soon lose that as the Populist Reforms continue to wrest their governments AWAY from the Oligarchs and Absentee Corporations, and return them to the People.
Our continued hostility toward these emerging democracies have driven them straight to Russia and China.

If I were the leader of an Oil Rich South American country, and a hostile Superpower was pouring BILLIONS in money and military supplies into a failed, next door, Narco State run by a Right Wing puppet Dictator, I would be romancing China, Russia, and Iran too.

It IS the hostile US policy toward emerging democracies in Latin America that has provoked this response from Chavez.

Sitting on our thumbs and keeping quiet while a Military Coup took control of the democratically elected government in Honduras didn't help much.
ALL of Latin America came to the same conclusion:
No Hope & Change....just more of the same unrestrained predatory colonial capitalism

The populist reforms sweeping across Latin America gives me HOPE for the World.
This is the BIGGEST story unreported in the US as citizens of these countries take their governments BACK from the Oligarchs in bloodless revolutions.

I pray these populist reforms migrate quickly to El Norte.
We could use them here.
