Marriage Warrior Karl Rove Gets a Divorce
Marriage Warrior Karl Rove Gets a Divorce

Karl Rove, the architect behind using gay marriage as a wedge issue to drive the Christian right to the polls, has just gotten a divorce in Texas, ending his 24-year marriage.

No one should really be surprised by the hypocrisy, especially because Rove himself is apparently not devoutly Christian, he simply specialized in playing to those who were. Nor is it surprising that for all of gay marriage opponents’ talk of how it will destroy “traditional” marriage, Rove didn’t seem to have much respect for families to begin with. A former Rove staffer told The New Republic about Rove’s tactic of painting one political opponent as a pedophile:

“It was our standard practice to use the University of Alabama Law School to disseminate whisper-campaign information,” the staffer went on. “That was a major device we used for the transmission of this stuff. The students at the law school are from all over the state, and that’s one of the ways that Karl got the information out—he knew the law students would take it back to their home towns and it would get out.” This would create the impression that the lie was in fact common knowledge across the state. “What Rove does,” says Joe Perkins, “is try to make something so bad for a family that the candidate will not subject the family to the hardship. Mark is not your typical Alabama macho, beer-drinkin’, tobacco-chewin’, pickup-drivin’ kind of guy. He is a small, well-groomed, well-educated family man, and what they tried to do was make him look like a homosexual pedophile. That was really, really hard to take.”

As Salon’s Glenn Greenwald pointed out today on Twitter, Rove was happy to take advantage of Texas’s “loose, un-Christian no-fault divorce law” despite having railed against gay marriage precisely because it is not traditional or Christian.

Look, Karl Rove, when your colleague Dick Cheney is the enlightened one on a particular issue, you know you’re more than a little ass-backward.

9. Beard
Herr Roverer even went so far as to spawn children, but I'd bet next year's wages that he was the recipient of Jeff Gannon's manly love, as recorded by White House visitation logs...not that there's anything WRONG with that, mind you, but the hypocrisy is simply astounding.

5. Is he pulling a Rudi, you know like
have a younger one on the string, getting rid of this one so he can change. Course the only reason anybody in their right mind would go for rove is because he has money. Money covers a lot of stuff.

it was all the wives fault, because as we all know the patriots in the party of responsibility never take responsibility for anything.

10. I'm sure the divorce was her call. Being called "Mrs Turdblossom" gets to be old after a while.
For the life of me, I cannot see the how anyone can be attracted to him. He's as ugly on the inside as the outside.

19. The University of Alabama Law School needs to be sanction!!
There should be a required disclaimer for any information disseminated.

"If you receive any demeaning information that is political in nature it is most likely false and is being filtered to you by Karl Rove or his deputies. They are not reliable. They don't have any qualms about making false statements with the intent to hurt people."

Then again it doesn't look like UA has any policies in regards to ethics or honesty so I don't know if they condone it or not.

25. Married to Karl Rove
that must have been a twenty four year nightmare on c street. There is no way any woman could look at them three hairs on top of that big enormous head and not have the desire to pluck them. I wish her the best of luck to getting a restful nights sleep after twentyfour years of being married to that piece of work, sweet dreams miss lady. As for mr.brains,go take a flying leap into the abyss. And can you do it without polluting our ocean.
