I will never apologize for liking this President |
|
I will never apologize for standing behind him
I will never apologize for allowing him time to fix the mess he inherited
I will never apologize for my own personal experience
I will never apologize for apologizing, no wait, apologist, wait.. wait.. bashing?
ah fuck it.... I just will never apologize.
Democratic Underground is a discussion board, a place where some come to relax from the constant media bashing, a place to learn a thing or two, a place, well, I guess for all Democrats. There are many websites where people can go and generate hate but I still believe this is not one of them, there are still plenty of good democrats on this board and as long as we have them, the hate mongers can always get drowned out.

Oh well, I don't know anyone here on a real life basis. My own parents are conservatives and I don't care what they think either. Everyone has their own opinion and DU is a place to discuss those opinions.

49. The definition of "apologist" is not someone who apologizes |
|
People are confused. Apologizer and apologist are two very different things. An apologist is, "A person who argues in defense or justification of something, such as a doctrine, policy, or institution." That's the contrary of apologizing. http://education.yahoo.com/reference/dictionary/entry/apologist

15. Then you are no different than a Republican. The sad thing is you know it. |
|
"ah f___ it, I will just never apologize" line pushed you into the Bushbot category. Isn't this what they did?
Democrats are people who hold their honesty, integrity, and love their fellow man above mere politics. We demand all our leaders to do the same, and when they don't, we hold their feet to the fire, Republican or Democrat, period!
Accepting anything less than that is simply becoming a Republican.

Edited on Thu Dec-31-09 05:57 PM by scubadude
First we must make sure everyone knows what the Republicans have done, where the blame lies for our woes, then we demand the politicians we have elected in opposition to those Republican policies stand up to their rhetoric!
If our leaders are acting too much like Republicans, call them out for it.
Demand real Democratic policy and legislation.
Keep the spotlight on capitulation.
Demand service to the WHOLE Democratic spectrum.
Do not allow the Republican created view of the political spectrum as "center right" to survive, drag it leftward to correct the last 40 years of Republican manipulation.
Demand the media correctly portray the political spectrum of our country as center left.
Readjust the perception of the word "Liberal" to mean supporting progressive political reform and generosity.
Create and support progressive think tanks and grass roots organizations.
These are some of the things that need to be done. Yeah, it's a long road, but if we don't take it we'll be stalled here forever.

"ah f___ it, I will just never apologize" line pushed his statement into the Bush-bot category, as I said before. That is unless you fall into the "cult of personality" camp. Isn't that what the Bush-bots did?
Picture what would have happened if there were no Bush-bots and if the people who supported him initially saw what was happening before the Iraq war and withdrew their support. Just that act alone may have prevented the war. That act alone certainly would have prevented a second administration, the economic meltdown that ensued, and many of the other problems we see today.
Of course the Bush-bots didn't do that because they had the "ah f___ it, I will just never apologize" mentality. They supported blindly, no matter what. They supported Bush/Cheney for "who they were", blinding themselves to "what they did".
So you see how dangerous to the country blind support can be. We must demand that our politicians do what they promise, for to do anything less is to accept the peril that may ensue.

But I do support Obama in general and I do reserve the right to be disappointed in some of his policies and I am disappointed. But I realize he pretty much feels he has to govern from the middle.

Because it's so revealing about a certain mindset. After being told that their understanding of the word is 100% wrong, they skip no beats in insisting that the new meaning is the real meaning and create entire scaffolds of misplaced logic to support the new, hallucinatory definition of the word.
It reminds me quite a bit of the health care reform debate.
