A little update on Newsweek story re Obama briefing - in case anyone needed a clarification:
Edited on Sat Jan-02-10 01:28 PM by Pirate Smile
WEST WING MINDMELD: Did the President have a briefing on December 22 on holiday threats? You bet he did. He demanded it. The holidays are traditionally a time of increased threat reporting and the President wanted to be sure his team was on top of that reporting -- doing the fine work it had done, for example, on the Zazi and Headley cases earlier in the year. In fact, the President demands regular counterterrorism and homeland security briefings that bring together the whole team representing the heads of the government agencies charged with intell and homeland security. Did the December 22 briefing include a warning of an attack? No. It did not. And despite the provocative headline on his story, the Newsweek reporter does not report that there was one. Because he couldn't. Because there wasn't.

2. Am I reading correctly? This is from Politico? They must be feeling some backlash from
that Cheney service Mike Allen authored last week.

3. I think it is actually anger, because only they are allowed to make misleading
statements about Obama

8. Hahaha. Interesting. So the distortions of other publications cause truth retaliation.

4. Yes, it was an update from Mike Allen. What can I say? I thought I would post it here because even
some DU'ers are trying to use this against Obama - which really isn't a surprise any more.

7. I didn't intend anything against you posting, I'm just shocked Politico printed it.
I agree, unfortunately it really isn't too surprising, in fact, it's all too predictable.

9. I didn't take it as anything against me. I agree with you regarding both
Politico and people here using whatever they can against the President. :hi:

10. Reminds me of an episode of South Park where they have a Family Guy idea
generator for the episodes where the creators are a bunch of manatees pushing idea balls into a selection tube which then get turned into a show plot. The way these stories are pulled together and the lack of regard for details and fact-checking is creating a new low at the pit of the "journalistic" cess pool.

5. That Newsweek headline really upset me. The irresponsible reporting
needs to stop. I am quite sick of it and I hope Newsweek gets a huge backlash.

6. The briefing doesnt matter.
The systemic failure does.

People dont want excuses they want solutions. I wish they would test different profiles to see if the system reacts. Use backgrounds of known terrorists and see if it triggers anything in the system.

11. True and the systemic failure is what Obama is focused on but it isn't the focus of Republicans
who play politics with everything whether it is another potential great depression or a terrorist attack.

12. Obama still has options in Yemen but if the bomb had gone off he woudn't
He knows he was damned lucky. But he needs to be good and improve the system so he doesnt have to rely on luck.

17. ROLF! It's official. Politico's Mike Allen is now more accure than Huffington Post.
That's right. Dick Cheney's stenographer is more accurate than Huffington Post.

That speaks volumes of Huffington Post.
