GOP 2010? NO NO and NO. (Picture heavy).
We should never forget

We should never accept

Ordinary every day Americans should never face hunger in the richest Nation on Earth

nor should they face the indignity of homelessness

We need more and better Democratic Senators in 2010.

The GOP should not be looking at a Senate term in 2010. They should be looking at a Prison term.

Timidity will allow a Party, bereft of ideas, to reclaim power, when all they should be doing is reclaiming their soap.

39. Americans as a whole have a very limited short term memory, and almost nil historical rememberance
When people head for the voting booth, they tend to cast their votes on the current situation... not on what it may have happened before.

Thus, we will be seeing a resurgence of the GOP. I am saddened to say, unless the current admin/congress pull some very significant progress in the next few months. And sorry to say, but looking at the track record it is very safe to assume that won't happen.

45. Exactly...
Mp we haven't forgottem evem though the media wants us to..The media wants us to believe as they are

trying to predict the future again. The repugs will start showing their arrogance again but even more. These are the same silly ass people who think that everything will keep on going the same way it did in the 90'S I have news for them this is not the 90's and these are not the same people of the 90's. These teabaggers really think that they are the majority.

The GOP just keep hyping up wars overseas and talking about the terrorists but, they don't seem to get the fact that the terrorists are already here in more ways than one. By the way, when they name and show the pictures of terrorists why don't we ever see the picture of the guy who killed the guard at the holocaust museum? Why don't we hear about these terrorists who shoot up malls? Who shoot up schools?

The Repugs always told us "have you forgotten"? Hell no! I haven't forgotten all of the lying ass bullshit the media puts out for public consumpution and the uninformed who didn't give a damn eat it up because they didn't pay attention for eight years, these silly ass people really, really believe that bush protected them. Protected them from what! all of the crime he created with his policies, all of the people sleeping in tent cities in their cars who were/are dying in the streets.

How in the hell are we going to fight so called terrorists when the repugs are helping them by talking our president down everyday. I will never understand how somebody who claims they love God who they can't see can hate a man just because of the color of his skin. That is f---up. I am so sick of this shit!! and the people who believe it..

5. The American people need to be reminded of this.
Continuously.

Sod going light on them. There should be no Republican revival in 2010. They simply do not acccept what they were doing during the Bush years was wrong. They destroyed the reputation of America across the World. They savaged the working people of America. They destroyed a great deal of opportunity by fueling property booms removing the opportunity for hard working people to get mortgages honestly. Wage rates were frozen but people were tricked in to thinking they were richer because house prices had gone up. Then they blamed them when that property boom collapsed.

They are a Party of criminals, they are domestic and international terrorists of the worst kind.

10. The problem is as soon as the Dems took power it no longer was a republicon mess
the evil corrupt Dems caused the whole mess in 2006, everything was running fine until then. Look around you will see that outside of DU most of america thinks that the * years never happened, history for them amounts to Clinton being impeached and the Dem's taking control of both houses in 2006. The con controlled years are forgotten and played off as the years they had more.

The weird things is they did the same with the Hoover Years and the Nixon years. We went from WWI to the great depression, the years leading up to the 1929 market crash are just a foot note in history books, then FDR lead us to WWII after Japan attacked the USA which ended the Great Depression. Why? Well look who it is that decides what is put into the history books, conservatives. There are chapters on JFK, MLK MX,LBJ, yet whats written about Nixon or Ike? Ike was a good president and a war hero. Nixon went to China and he resigned office because of the water gate scandal.

This is how many people in this country see American history, ask them to name Great Republicon leaders and you get mainly 2 answers Lincoln and Reagan. I have heard conservatives claim Teddy was a democrat as was Nixon, from a younger person born in the 80's. They cherry pick information then like everything else they build the story to fit their preconceived ideals. Their ideals are mainly Republicons = good, Democratic = bad.

44. Who caused it is at this point irrelevant.
The question now is who is going to do something about it. The ball is in the Democrats' court and if Democrats don't do something very quickly, we will be set back once again.

Appointing the likes of Geithner and Bernanke and Summers to leading economic posts was a huge mistake that President Obama needs to correct.

Agreeing to a health care bail out for the insurance industry that forces hard-working middle-class Americans including seniors to fund the exorbitant profits and salaries of the insurance industry will harm the entire country. President Obama needs to demand a public option or single payer plan from Congress.

13. Katrina is not an isolated incident
as far as a crisis causing people to lose homes and starve. The forclosures have surpassed one million. The layoffs continue at an astounding rate.

This is a crisis right now that's just as bad as any natural disaster.

There's been little next to nothing as far as a response.

If the GOP wins it's cause people chose to stay home. And if people choose to stay home because they are angry at all this that's a legit concern. The Dems have not gotten the job done. Doesn't exactly mean the country has turned rightward. If anything it's a reaction to rightward and aloof attitude of the folks in charge right now.

15. How was Reid "blackmailed by Lieberman"?
Lieberman was the party's VP candidate back in 2000. Overall, he's really not that far off from where the party stands on economic matters which is a pretty conservative stance to begin with. Reid himself is also one of the more conservative members of the party.

There really is no left to speak of in the Democratic party outside of Kucinich.

And using anecdotal evidence (Hint, I'm not saying it;s entirely reliable) the party wants it this way. They want the left out. That was evident on this board after Biden got the VP nod by a lot of posters here. It got worse when folks like Rahm Emmanual were given cabinet position around here. The Democratic party wants nothing to do with the left and wants disenfranchised conservatives from the Republican party.

There's not much of a leftist voice in this country to impact either of these parties. The Republicans may piss and moan about it but even they know they are full of shit on that one.

17. There has been plenty of response from the Obama Administration, but you choose to overlook it ...
... utterly and continue with one baseless attack after another. Several posters in other threads have tried to correct the misinformation you strew about, but you either don't bother to read and follow links, don't care to be accurate, or you really want to see us lose.

Once more I will say to you: 87% of Democrats are happy with Obama as of a very recent Gallup Poll. The people who are NOT happy with Obama are Republicans and a very small cadre of DUers and leftish bloggers.

Link posted once again.
http://www.gallup.com/poll/121199/Obama-Weekly-Job-Approval-Demographic-Groups.aspx

I say this not for your benefit, because you are not paying attention, but for the benefit of others here.

The reason that most people stay home at midterm elections is not because they are suicidally depressed but because they don't realize how very much it matters. The ones who do vote without prodding are those with an ax to grind, like Right Wingers and fundies.

So it's up to us as Dems to back Dem candidates, educate other Dems, and GOTV.

But I'm not talking to you--just those who may be reading this response.

Hekate

27. I hope that voters reject the GOP in 2010 simply based on the past....
but I doubt that will happen. With a Democratic president in office, it is harder to make voters fear a return to Bushy policies if more Republicans are elected. Full-on obstructionism from 1993 up to the 1994 midterms served Republicans well politically early in Bill Clinton's first term, and Tom Schaller has a piece at FiveThirtyEight.com which outlines what he sees as the advantages of such a strategy for congressional Republicans, as well as the political dangers for an opposition party that cooperates with a majority party that holds the White House, as well. A good number even of smart progressives (Rachel Maddow comes to mind) spend a lot of time chortling over the antics of the teabagger-crazed GOP and seem to think they'll fall of their own weight, but I doubt it. My hope is that Democrats, particularly Senate Democrats, get on the ball in the New Year.

some of their members are corrupted (some of ours are too).

This is where we have been failing these last few years. The GOP has made of liberal a dirty word, but we have continued to insist that there was nothing wrong with the core of the RW ideology.

in a few short months is testament to to how royally Bush messed up this country. Contrary to what many believed, one or two
administrations can completely alter our country for years to come. If American's are so short sighted and stupid that they would
vote us back into the arms of the bastards responsible for our current crisis, they deserve what they get.

Clinton was eager to stop welfare as we knew it then. That was back when the D.C. elites didn't think there could ever be another serious recession. They were wrong. They tore up the safety net, and here we are.

It takes a village --

We Americans deserve better from our so-called "leaders" in both parties.

49. never forget this!
The source of the term is a quotation in an October 17, 2004, New York Times Magazine article by writer Ron Suskind, quoting an unnamed aide to George W. Bush:

The aide said that guys like me were "in what we call the reality-based community," which he defined as people who "believe that solutions emerge from your judicious study of discernible reality." ... "That's not the way the world really works anymore," he continued. "We're an empire now, and when we act, we create our own reality. And while you're studying that reality—judiciously, as you will—we'll act again, creating other new realities, which you can study too, and that's how things will sort out. We're history's actors…and you, all of you, will be left to just study what we do."<1>
