The Day Dodd Jumped the Shark
Edited on Wed Jan-06-10 01:38 AM by Clio the Leo
I'm not sure that "jumping the shark" is exactly the right metaphor, but I'm using it anyway.

Seems like this was a week ago...

Thanks to Dave Weigel for reminding me of this.

3. I couldn't remember it when I first saw Weigel's tweet....
.... but as soon as I saw the clip, it was like it was yesterday. Very odd day.

4. I like Dodd. But yeah, the guy really tarnished his image the last two years.

5. That headline misrepresents what happened.

Chris Dodd wanted to limit bonuses.

The Obama Administration told him that laws can't change existing contracts (which is bogus, because that would mean that companies could avoid minimum wage increases by having low-paid employees sign on to their current wage indefinitely.)

So Dodd put in a clause which only affected new contracts.

If Dodd hadn't done anything, AIG executives could have still gotten their bonuses.
