What Republican Senate Seats are up shaky this year? |
|
The media seems to always concentrate on the Democratic problem seats. What GOP Senate seats are in trouble? I would say one might be Burr in North Carolina--what are some others?

1. Do we know yet who's running against Burr? |
|
What are the chances of getting a good candidate there?

12. Burr definitely has problems. |
|
Interestingly, NC has become a death valley for one term senators. Since 1981, the only one to get reelected was Helms who retired in 2003.
One term senators since 1981: East(R) Broyhill(R) Sanford(D) Faircloth(R) Edwards(D) Dole(R)
Note: East commited suicide.

2. McCain might be vulnerable if JD Hayworth runs against him in the primary |
|
That might work out well for the Democrat because JD is a very polarizing figure here.

4. Other possible GOP seats Dems may have a shot in: |
|
Kentucky--where Bunning retired Louisiana--If we can tie a diaper around Vitter's neck Missouri--possibly our best shot with Carnahan New Hampshire--open seat, Rep. Hodes running. Ohio--Taft retired.

16. Louisiana is really a choice between fetid shit |
|
and stagnant pond water. Vitter is the fetid shit, but his Democratic opponent, Charlie Melancon, is a Blue Dog.

15. I think she's got a good shot at winning Kit Bond's seat. |
|
It would offset a loss in ND.

11. I'm guessing the Dems pick up OH and MO |
|
I was also predicting the the GOP would pick up CT, NV, and AR. Now it looks like CT will be safe and ND will be picked up.

Florida -If Marco Rubio wins the GOP primary against Crist (and polls are showing this is a distinct possibility), the Democrats could have a chance of winning this seat Iowa -Senator Grassley must be favored as a 30-year incumbent but polls are showing that his approval ratings are falling and Dems have a good candidate in Roxanne Conlin. A long shot but who knows Louisiana -Another long shot but Vitter is tainted by scandal and Charlie Melancon could prove a formidable challenger Missouri -Robin Carnahan has good chance of picking up this vacant senate seat New Hampshire -This is probably a 50-50 kind of seat but Paul Hodes is a good candidate for the Democratic Party and GOP frontrunner Kelly Ayotte, his most formidable opponent, is facing the prospect of facing a tea-bagger in the primary North Carolina -Senator Richard Burr is vulnerable in his poll numbers. It is also worthwhile noting that no incumbent has been re-elected to this senate seat since 1968 so we can always hope this trend continues Ohio: Another 50-50 but I think Democrats do have a fighting chance in this seat
