3. I'm unable to find an article...
.... I just saw the entry on Politico's daily agenda ... but I'd imagine if Bill Clinton and Barack Obama are in the room together, the subject matter is anything and everything ... with the time being dominated by discussion about the health care bill.

16. That would likely help our chances, but I can't imagine Clinton as a back bench Senator
I guess theoretically they could make him majority leader, but it would be as unusual as a modern President in the Senate. (I know it happened centuries ago)

2. Interesting
Wonder if that has something to do with the shift of Obama's comments on the report about the underpants bomber info from 1 - 3?

Huh. Today could be interesting.

8. Tax insurers on plans that cost more than $2,000 PER MONTH per family......
Edited on Thu Jan-07-10 01:38 PM by FrenchieCat
and only taxing anything over the $2,000 per month, not anything else...?

Do you know what a $2,000 premium value insurance looks like?
Like more than a mortgage payment per month for most.
The majority of Unions workers do not have these plans.....

Although I don't like taxes,
you make something simple that is a bit more complex
and would affect only 2-4% of those covered.

The hyperbole should be left to the Republicans, if you asked me.

10. I personally dont believe Unions get Cadillac insurance
I get AWESOME health insurance and my company pays something like 12K a year. Our union workers get the same thing.

15. Obviously you don't
Try being diabetic or try being a small business. My sister is married to a doctor and her insurance is 1600 a month and covers nothing. It actually affects 1 in 5 union plans so that is 20% not 2-4%.

17. It is less than 2% and 4%
Where is a link to it affecting 20% of union plans?

The examples you mention will be helped by the health insurance plan, small businesses will be eligible to join plans on the exchange, which will not be taxed, that pool everyone - which should lower her cost. As to a diabetic, getting insurance now is hard and costly - under the plan, pre-existing conditions don't count.

18. The exchange???
Show me one coop that works. YOu can already buy insurance through "the exchnage" or business associations or credit union associations.

According to the JCT’s analysis, the effects include:

· 25 percent of family plans and 26 percent of single plans will be affected in 2015 -- two years after the tax begins. By 2019, 37% of family plans and 41 percent of single plans will be affected.

· 24 million households will be affected in 2015, growing to 39 million households in 2019. One-third of middle class households making $50,000 to $100,000 will be affected by 2019.

· $1,005 will be the average tax increase paid in 2015 by all households affected. The tax will grow to $1,344 by 2019. Extrapolating from the JCT data, CWA estimates that the total average tax paid by a household affected by the tax would be $7,777 between 2013 and 2019.

· The tax is very regressive. For example, among households affected by the tax in 2019 a family making $1 million a year will pay twice as much as a family making $50,000 to $75,000 ($2,300 vs. $1,250), but the wealthy family’s income will be 14 to 20 times greater.

· An analysis of the JCT data by Citizens for Tax Justice found that households affected by the excise tax making at least $1 million would see a 0.1 percent tax increase, whereas those affected households making $50,000 to $75,000 would see their taxes increase 2 percent."

14. Obama seem much less upset today when he gave his speech. I wonder if
Clinton wasn't there to help Obama get back to being calmer. Could be. Even Presidents need support.
