MSNBC keeps saying if there's another attack it'll be Obama's "3rd strike."
Edited on Thu Jan-07-10 04:13 PM by jenmito
They're counting Ft. Hood as strike 1, this failed attempt as strike 2, and any future "attack" (or attempt, obviously, according to them) as strike 3. They're saying this because they need to find a way to criticize Obama for taking responsibility and supposedly saying at 4:30, "We know what went wrong and we know how to fix it."

So wasn't the Shoe Bomber BUSH'S strike 2? How 'bout the Anthrax attacks? No? :eyes:

ETA important note: Apparently, THEY got it from Gen. Jim Jones who said Obama "certainly doesn't want that third strike..." in an earlier interview. Maybe we can't blame MSNBC afterall.

3. There's a whole "panel" discussing this stuff...
including Michael Sheehan, "NBC News Terrorism Analyst," Norah O'Donnell, Alex Witt, David Shuster, and Richard Wolffe. But Wolffe (and Shuster) usually rebut what Sheehan says.

9. No doubt about it. 3000 die on **'s watch and somehow he's a hero. No one dies
here in a terror attack on Obama's watch, but somehow he is a strike three? It would be laughable if it weren't for the fact these jokers influence a lot of people's thinking. (Which they know, and are happy to take advantage of that fact in order to push their agenda.)

6. I've noticed they're starting to blame him for Ft. Hood out of the blue. I blame Obama for
not being tough enough in criticizing his opponents. He let too much slide and now the media is jumping on him. I said this yesterday. These people are waiting for an attack, and when it happens all hell will breal loose.

That Major was promoted under Bush. Now once the guy tried to make contact w/ terrorist, someone should've stepped in. I can't remember when he did that though.

7. Two high rise buildings in NYC were destroyed and 3000 people died immediately,
not to mention those who have died since then as a result of the toxins released in the 9/11 attacks. Anything that happens on Obama's watch pales in comparison. btw, there were four attacks on 9/11 so Bush's strikes already outnumber Obama's.

8. What appalls me is the killing of those CIA agents in Afghanistan by the
"double agent." I know that wasn't on our soil but it is still very bad.

However, "double agents" are always a serious risk and they've been used in warfare from the dawn of time. Sometimes you take a chance and you lose and that is what happened in this case.

Sad, tho.

impeachment should another something go down. It's all too transparent when they're carrying water for the pugs. AM this morning was awful. I've been watching Shuster, but even the commentary for the last hour has been slanted heavily against Obama.

The problem is the intel. system didn't work. It was not Obama's fault but he'll take responsibility anyway since the buck stops with him. He's NOW going to make changes to what supposedly "worked" under Bush.

14. I wish someone would tell them that 9/11 was 4 separate attacks, not 1
It would have been possible to stop one or more without stopping all of them — in fact, one was stopped, although by the passengers and not the government. There were four separate groups of terrorists, preparing and training independently.

So in reality, Bush had on his watch:
  • AA Flight 11 hijacking and destruction of the North Tower of the WTC
  • UA Flight 175 hijacking and destruction of the South Tower of the WTC
  • AA Flight 77 hijacking and attack on the Pentagon
  • UA Flight 93 hijacking
  • The Anthrax attacks
  • The shoe bombing attack

Yet Bush is "tough on terrorism"?

42. Jim Mik--9/11 Reporter
Remember he was at the Pentagon that morning and reporting when it got hit... He was not very good 'on the fly' that morning when we needed some clarity!!! What's funny to me is that they repeat the NBC coverage of that Tuesday morning every year (on 9/11) on MSNBC. It unfortunately shows how fucking stupid Matt and Katie ( I guess she became so smart right before Palin) and Andrea and Mik were and still are!!! They basically talked while the second plane hit and missed the first collapse (again blabbing until someone off camera must have said "LOOK AT THE FUCKING MONITORS YOU IDIOTS!!!! Check this year in September...

25. Wait a minute, wait a minute...
:wtf:

Are we talking about FAILED (as in 'they caught the guy BEFORE he actually pulled it off') terrorist attacks?

I thought that was what SUPPOSED to happen!

There's going to be angry disgruntled unstable people who don't give a flying BFD about anything except themselves and their 'cause' no matter what...and they come in all flavors.

AFAIK, there's no way to find them all and have them in custody BEFORE they try anything (like in the movie Minority Report)- they have to surface first and start doing terrorist things BEFORE Security can grab them.

So, we've got failed attempts. How are these 'strikes' against Obama?

Again, :wtf:

27. The reaction to a pair of exploding underwear is absurd
Nearly two weeks after a pair of underwear exploded the media and our government are still obsessing about it as if the underwear bomber actually posed a serious threat to our national security. He did not pose a threat, he was probably the most pathetic terrorist I have ever heard of. The guy did not cause damage to anything aside from his crotch, and the media wants us to believe that we need all kinds of new security measures in place to protect us from exploding underwear.

We are supposed to be afraid of exploding underwear yet the real threats that face our nation are ignored. Global warming is threatening our planet and nothing is being done to stop it, the same bankers who nearly crashed our economy last year are still up to their old tricks and are not being regulated, the so-called "war on terrorism" is only serving to inflame the middle east, there are numerous real problems facing the world yet we are supposed to be scared of underwear. Sorry, but no matter how much the media wants to focus on the threat of underwear I still find global warming to be a bigger threat to our planet than exploding underwear.

45. Have you noticed
They forget to mention that the underwear bomber was trained by two detainees that were let go under the Bush/Cheney administration. And that they try and connect it to the Fort Hood Shooter with the cleric which they have also known about during the previous administration. And he sure went from being The underpants bomber to the Christmas bomber to the Detroit bomber.(no relation to the Detroit Brown Bomber,Joe Louis). And what about those rumored reports of a man in a well dressed suit bypassing security claiming that the young man was a Sudanese refugee? And it was reported here in Michigan and other reports that all cell phones and camera and recording devices were confiscated by authorities. So at what point do we know the truth.I just know that mis steps in the previous administration are still reeking havoc on our country under the new administration. with so much to fix if i was the President i might do a Sarah Palin.:* :* :*

39. Using their criteria, Bush had way more than 3 strikes...
9/11, Anthrax, DC sniper, shoe bomber, LAX shooting, etc. No one ever mentions that last one but it was determined to be a "terrorist attack." http://www.cnn.com/2003/US/West/04/12/airport.shooting/ I always bring it up when wingnuts spout their "Bush kept us safe..." line.

And how about these? Strikes 6, 7, 8, 9 & 10?

4/13/2004 USA Raleigh, NC A Muslim man runs down five strangers with a car.

6/16/2006 USA Baltimore, MD A 62-year-old Jewish moviegoer is shot to death by a Muslim gunman in an unprovoked terror attack.

6/25/2006 USA Denver, CO Saying that it was ‘Allah’s choice’, a Muslim shoots four of his co-workers and a police officer.

7/28/2006 USA Seattle, WA An ‘angry’ Muslim-American uses a young girl as hostage to enter a local Jewish center, where he shoots six women, one of whom dies.

2/13/2007 USA Salt Lake City, UT A Muslim immigrant goes on a shooting rampage at a mall, targeting people buying Valentine’s Day cards at a gift shop and killing five.

7/27/2009 USA, Knoxville, TN Two people shot to death and 7 injured when a white guy walked into a Unitarian Church, with the intent to "kill Democrats and liberals", and shot up the place.

I guess since liberals and Democrats were the targets, they don't consider this a "terror attack."
