Wow - Countdown running down the many terrorism attacks while w was president - *Updated*
Edited on Fri Jan-08-10 08:31 PM by eleny
There's quite a list. The transcript will bring us down a memory lane of horrors.

eta: Lawrence O'Donnell is the guest host tonight.

A list from Daily Kos just posted:

Post-9/11 Domestic Terror Attacks During Bush Administration

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2010/1/8/823179/-Post-9-11-Domestic-Terror-Attacks-During-Bush-Administration

Sept-Oct 2001: Anthrax attacks on Congress, NY govt offices, media.

Dec 12, 2001: Foiled plot by Irv Rubin and Earl Krugel to blow up mosque in Culver City, CA, and office of Congressman Darrell Issa (R-CA).

Dec 22, 2001: Shoe Bomber Richard Reid fails to blow up AA Flt 63.

July 4, 2002: Hesham Mohamed Hadayet kills 2 at the El Al ticket counter at LAX.

Oct 2002: Beltway Snipers John Allen Muhammed and Boyd Lee Malvo kill 10; Malvo later testifies attacks motivated by "jihad."

April 2003: White supremacists William Krar, Edith Bruey foiled in the Tyler Poison Gas Plot with huge stockpile of cyanide, 100 conventional bombs, and 500,000 rounds of ammunition.

June 5, 2003: John Noster arrested in LA w/cache of pipe bombs, jet fuel, weapons, and assorted books alleging a worldwide socialist conspiracy.

March 3, 2005: Mohammed Reza Taheri-azana drives an SUV onto a crowded part of campus at UNC at Chapel Hill, injuring 9.

April 3, 2006: Allen Weatherford arrested in MN with cache of weapons, detonation devices, fuel oil, and fertilizer intended to blow up a local courthouse.

July 28, 2006: Naveed Haq kills 1 and hospitalizes 5 in a shooting at the Jewish Federation of Greater Seattle.

Aug 30, 2006: Omeed Aziz Popal kills 1 and injures 17 in SUV rampage that began in Fremont, CA, and ended at the Jewish Community Center of SF.

Dec 22, 2006: Derrick Shareef’s "violent jihad" attack on an Illinois shopping mall disrupted by feds.

Feb 12, 2007: Sulejman Talović opens fire at the Trolley Square Mall in Salt Lake City, killing 5, injuring 4, while shouting "Allahu Akbar!"

Not to mention the March 23, 2003 grenade attack by Army Sgt. Hasan Akbar on his fellow members of the 101st Airborne, which killed 2 and wounded 14. That particular attack is not technically "terrorism" because it involved combatants rather than civilians, but then again so did the Right's previous-favorite Obama administration attack, that of Nidal Hassan at Ft. Hood earlier this year. Funny nobody ever mentions Hasan Akbar when they're trying to claim that the Ft. Hood incident proves Obama is soft on terrorism.

3. eleny, I just posted in GD that Tweety, not Keith is on my TV right now
I live in the eastern time zone.

Tweety is on right now, not Countdown.

Makes one think. Hmmm.......powerful call out -- we're not watching it here.

5. I know. I get that.
8 pm eastern time is when Countdown is on each and every weeknight. I live in the eastern time zone.

And right now, the blonde weather vane is bloviating and spittering on my TV.

It's just weird. When KO isn't there, he always has another host on (as is tonight with O'Donnell) but right now a repeat is on of Hardball.

Unless someone moved my state to another time zone....something is off...

10. Here on the West Coast we get two Tweetys every day -- 2pm, Ed comes on at
3, then Tweety again at 4pm -- a repeat of the 2pm show. THEN comes Keith (5pm) and Rachel (6pm). So they're obviously lacking a show for that time slot. I'd love to see Lawrence O'Donnell get his own show, too. I think he's excellent. I'd also like David Shuster on instead of Tweety Part Deux.

19. Everybody geets two Tweetys every day. MSNBC sends out the same feed to the whole continent
at the same time. On the East Coast, we get a new Tweety at 5 pm and the Tweety rerun at 7.

It's really strange that anyone on the West Coast today is getting Tweety at 5 PT.

11. Wow is right. Totally out of my memory bank (except Richard Reid). I was
dozing when he began with the list, so I missed it. Hopefully it'll be brought to Rudy's attention.

16. What about the guy who slit the Greyhound bus driver's throat?
It was shortly after 9/11/01. All they said was that the guy was "deranged." A very fishy story and it was buried. Then there was the woman in Kentucky or Tennessee found burned in her car far from her home the day before she was to testify in court about I.D.s given to Middle Easterners. That was strange too.

18. Don't forget about the UNC SUV terror attack in 2006
It's funny: at the time, in March, 2006, Republicans were all foaming at the mouth about how Mohammed Reza Taheri-azar was a terrorist, and that his driving a rented SUV into a crowd of students constituted terrorism. Other folks said he was just a nutjob. Today, however, since they so firmly believe that we suffered no terror attacks under the Bush administration, apparently he wasn't a terrorist after all.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/11660817/

And a few links wherein Republican front publications label Mohammed Reza Taheri-azar a terrorist:

Do these people not even remember what their party line was as little as three years ago?

23. Hard to include it
As I'm not sure this was terrorism so much as someone whose life fell apart, had a nervous breakdown, and incorporated fanaticism into his delusional system.

Don't know how I missed it in the OP. I am waiting for Burr, while running for reelection, to claim there were no terror attacks in the US under Bush, when his base all think this was orchestrated by bin Laden himself.

24. That might be said about several. I suppose they include them since they appear inspired by al qaeda
And that might be enough to warrant inclusion.

28. O'Donnell kicked ass. Dick Cheney didn't keep the country safe.
And the GOP got what it asked for by constantly peddling lies about terrorist attacks on Bush/Cheney.
