2. Wall Street is Happy Happy and Happy
And now that the Great Big Hope has even expanded the Afghanistan war, the MIC is Happy Happy Happy too. That ensures that the M$M will be Happy Happy Happy with Obama as well.

The only people who are not happy are those who do not count.

5. TARP was never an "Obama strategy" and never one with the intent of trickling down wealth.
Of course you know all of this, but I'm sure you will pretend you don't so you can continue to advance your factless left bagger agenda... or maybe you will throw some more Glen Beck-like conspiracy theories out there instead, I'm sure it will be 1 of the only 2 posting related things you are good at.

24. Yea most of the senate supported it, it was necessary.
It still isn't an "Obama strategy". Try actually responding with something relevant next time.

...because they don't know a damn thing about the subject matter.

8. I think some people were really looking forward to a collapse of our
economy. Because, that's exactly what would have happened if the banks and financial markets had not been stabilized.

10. TARP sucks
Edited on Fri Jan-08-10 09:36 PM by msallied
It was the methadone option for an economy and government addicted to the heroin of greed and corruption. Sadly, they're all still on the smack, but we could have died going cold turkey. Who knows what's going to be the next step from here... I'm glad the economy didn't crumble at our feet. I can't imagine what world we'd be living in now if it had.

11. The Congressional Oversight Panel reported that TARP saved the US financial system from collapse
and the CBO reported that the Stimulus Bill created or saved 0.6-1.6 million jobs.

and the Labor Dept. reported net job creation in November 2009 - for the first time in 2 years

and new unemployment claims are declining

and manufacturing is increasing

and the Stimulus Bill took GDP from tanking at -6.4% when Obama to office to growing at +2.2% in the 3rd Quarter of 2009

and Obama's extension of unemployment benefits kept millions of Americans from the wolf.

and the Heritage Foundation admitted that if it were not for Stimulus Bill, the economy would still be contracting.

So yeah - Obama's economic policies saved us from a Great Depression and turned the economy around.

Another grim U.S. jobs report — 85,000 lost in December

The Labor Department reported a net loss of 85,000 jobs in December, a month that most economists had figured would be a job-generator. The unemployment rate stayed steady at 10 percent, but analysts quickly pointed out that was a bit misleading since 661,000 job-seekers simply stopped seeking jobs, mucking up an already ambiguous picture of the job market.

Obama was supposed to spearhead the U.S.' into green-industry technology dominance. He's done absolutely nothing on that front while China has been taking advantage of Obama's sucking up to the health insurance and Big Pharma companies.

16. So, what *isn't* a trick, then?
What could you see as proof that TARP worked, and was a good thing?

If there isn't anything, then the OP is pointless, because it's simply a believer's perspective, out proselytizing, not a rational discussion.

18. Stop. Rewind. Go back to what you said about "jobless claims dropping"
Don't change the subject or attempt to obfuscate; admit that what you wrote was wrong or attempt to back your statement up.

Okay, they're dropping, and have been dropping for the last 6 months.

You think its a "trick". You don't like the numbers.

Fine. So I asked you for a number or measurement you would accept.

One way I keep from becoming a liar is to not speak in exaggerated absolutes.

19. We get the political leaders we desrve?
As long as the vast majority of Americans
believe that diminishing their well being
in favor of the few -- and in 2010 that's going to
work out beautifully for the few-- then things
are working out great.

25. Do you have money in a bank or do you keep it in a shoebox under your bed?
Because if it's the former (like most sane people) TARP is the reason you can go to the ATM and get money. Bank runs would've been a disaster for everybody.
