Mark Halperin - "Drudge is the "single most influential purveyor of information about America
A lot of noise is and will be made about Mark Halperin's book concerning the 08 campaign. Yes, he is reporting a few embarrassing things about Democrats, if true. Embarrassing, but are they really important?

Some here may want to remember who Halperin Hero is: Drudge, and credited him for defeating Kerry. This should be enough for us to dismiss what he writes, may be, as unimportant.

http://voices.washingtonpost.com/thefix/eye-on-2008/2008-halperin-and-harris-descr.html

Harris and Halperin call Drudge the "single most influential purveyor of information about American politics" and go on to add: "Drudge, with his droll Dickensian name, was not the only media or political agent whose actions led to John Kerry's defeat. But his role placed him at the center of the game -- a New Media World Order in which Drudge was the most potent player in the process and a personifications of the dynamic that did Kerry in."

2. Apt analogy, I agree, but this is not what Halperin meant, sadly.
Which is why he should be ignored.

3. drudge gets a lot of hits, but since he's simply recycling the GOP, talk radio, Fox News
talking points, that aint saying much.

5. I trust Halperin about as much as I trust any Rethug.
If anyone takes what he writes as total truth they have a few marbles loose.

6. Even worse, in the first chapter of the book he recounted a completely false

story that Drudge carried, with made up direct quotes that turned a routine $75 JK haircut into a $1000 styling as brilliant. The Kerry campaign and the salon quickly corrected the story, so it was not even that JK did not respond. Halperin thought it brilliant as it recast the war hero / athlete JK as someone finicky about his hair, which he was said to have dyed and high lighted.

10. Maybe a couple years ago
But the internet has greatly expanded since this was book was written and especially since the 2004 campaign. There are far better and more popular sources of information.

11. Drudge is a influential purveyor of GOP propaganda... not America
As indicated by the Kerry loss and taking credit for it, there is basically someone admitting they lied about someone to try to destroy them. Not that's "entertainment"...
