11 Promises Broken? But it's Only Been Less than a Year!
There's so many more promises that Obama can break in the next three years so give him a chance, you haters!

2. So you'll concede...
If Pres. Obama averages 90 promises kept a year to 11 not kept, that works out to 720 promises kept in a two-term presidency to 88 not kept. Or a percentage of 89% of his promises kept. That ain't bad! Glad you see it that way, last1standing.

4. 90% awesome!
I voted for Pres. Obama expecting that I wouldn't like his decisions 100%.

But I'm glad you think he's 90% honest. That's a pretty damn good number for a politician! Isn't our president awesome? :)

Let's drink to Obama.

Like DADT and DOMA.

He's not even close to 90% honest.

7. Name one president that kept ALL of his campaign promises.
Hell, how many kept 90% of them?

This is the reality: there is a big difference between what a President WANTS to do before they take office and what they can actually accomplish once they actually get in. Especially when you have the Party of NO trying to make sure you fail at every step.

13. Again, it's not "lying". It's reality. Like I said, there is a big difference
between what you want to do before you gain office and what you can accomplish in office. BUt he is "on track" to keep more of those promises than any President in history.

Obama is doing what he thinks is best for the country, despite any criticism he receives for it. That is the mark of a Leader. Still, he has accomplished more than any other president in their first term.

And many of his promises have had to be put "on hold" because of the economy. Which makes what he has accomplished so far even more amazing.

I'm sorry he doesn't have a magic wand to wave and make everything he said on the campaign trail come true immediately, but such wands don't exist except in Harry Potter.

19. No, it's often lying.
Some promises turn out to be ones that cannot be kept.

Some promises are made knowing they cannot be kept.

And some promises are made knowing they won't even be attempted, but will appeal to credulous morons.

If Barack Obama ever believed for a second the stuff he said about mandates or Kyl-Lieberman then he's far too stupid to hold the office.

But he's not stupid. He was lying.

For goodness sake... the president has already admitted he has a category in his head labeled "Things I supported on paper but didn't campaign on, so it doesn't count."

24. That's just dumb
The other top candidates campaigned on health care reform, and it's highly doubtful any of them could have brought it to this point. By your logic, they would have been lying.

Ridiculous.

I'm not even clever enough to realize how clever your "clever" comment was.

Maybe my mean old hatefulness has made you too angry to type. Its certainly made you too angry to understand the difference between attacking a public figure and a non-public one. I know some people have this image of Obama as their dad/brother/son/lover/golden calf but he's really just a politician who deserves criticism.

Sorry I offended your fantasy, though. Maybe you'll be able to catch him on X-tube someday and that'll even things out for you.

39. I can't help it if you guys don't understand the difference between public and non-public.
An attack on Obama's policies isn't an attack on you. I would think any rational, thinking person would understand that, but nope. Once a comment that criticizes Obama is posted, the cheer squad comes running in with personal attacks because someone dared to say mean things about their hero (or whatever other strange fantasy position he holds in your minds).

Its your only reason for being here and its kind of sad.

41. You've lost credibility at labeling anything "rational"
since your lapses into railing at "your ilk" and the "cheer squad" and your attempts to condescend to people by trying to hold up the idea that they're deluded into some fantasy relationship with the President betray what's really eating at you.

You seem to have it in for people who don't hate Obama as much as you do. The only people with whom you really wish to hold a dialogue are the ones who high-five your retread posts as if they're original concepts, never mind that you continue to insult members of the DU community who most likely hold the same core Democratic values as you while projecting your attacks onto others in the bargain.

If you're trying to rid this place of people who support the President in some form or fashion, it won't work.

45. saying things he had no intention of ever doing were truly lies; other things
he could not accomplish simply because he tried his hardest but the circumstances were not right are another matter.

For me, "health care reform" (as opposed to reforming the system to make it even easier for useless "health insurers" to scam us) falls into the first category--an intentional lie. The lack of action to back up his million-dollar snake-oil salesman words are blatant evidence of that.

Ironically, we read now that Obama's record of having legislation passed by Congress that he wants is at a record high of, what? 96+%? Yet we're told we "want a dictator" if we object that Obama did absolutely NOTHING to fight for a public option in health care after mentioning it as a CONDITION of a health bill he would sign. That idea of a "condition" was also a lie.

as far as "hating" Obama goes, I remember how GWB had to earn my hate--I gave him the benefit of the doubt until there was no more doubt. I came around to Obama after Kucinich was marginalized and ridiculed because he wasn't chosen by the PTB to be a candidate, after Obama and Hillary were chosen for us, and I ended up supporting him enthusiastically and getting others to vote for him. So far he has earned my disgust. I'm not up to "hatred" yet.
