Just when you thought the Birfers couldn't be any more batshit crazy
Edited on Wed Jan-13-10 09:53 AM by WeDidIt
they go even batshit crazier.

The Post and Email, a Birther haven, has floated the "theory" that Barack Hussein Obama's real name is Steve Dunham.

You just can't make this shit up. Now they claim that Ann Dunham was never married to Barack Obama Sr., gave birth to Barack in Mombassa (which wasn't even part of Kenya and is hundreds of miles from Obama's home village), named him Steve Dunham, and had her mother register him in Hawaii as Steve Dunham. Upon her return to Hawaii, they allege she amended the record to change the name.

And how do they prove this?

Some idiot requested index data from Janice Okubo (Department of Health) in Hawaii on a "Steve Dunham" for August 4, 1961. Okubo said no such data existed. Because no such data exists, they posit, it proves that Obama was originally named Steve Dunham and that the record was amended.

Teh stoopid...

it burns.

If nothing else, the Birfers will single-handedly guarantee Obama's re-election in 2012 because any GOP candidate is going to have to answer the question as to whether or not they believe Barack Obama is a natural born citizen.

so they switched to lead hats...

and now they're eating those.

see if they get it.

Edited on Wed Jan-13-10 10:12 AM by WeDidIt
It was in Zanzibar.

It became a part of the independent nation of Kenya in 1963.

protectorate.

Did I miss your source of Mombasa being a part of Zanzibar in 1961?

that part was edited out of Wikipedia and the section you cited put in.

And the edit occurred just a few days ago:

http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Mombasa&action=history

And here's the previous entry:

Mombasa was part of the state of Zanzibar until 12 December 1963 when it was <[Cession|ceded>] to be incorporated into the newly independent state of Kenya.{{Citation needed|date=September 2009}}

And here's a link to cmparing it to the prior version:

Snopes says Mombasa was a part of Zanzibar in 1961:

http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/birthers/kenyacert.asp

Cambridge Encyclopedia vol. 52 says the same:

14. Oh, and historyofmombasa.com says the same thing, too
http://www.mombasainfo.com/about-mombasa/history-culture/history-of-mombasa/

Somebody has vandalized the Mombasa entry in Wikipedia. Nobody has caught until this shit about "Steve Dunham" came up.

Funny that a new theory about Obama being born in Mombasa comes up and the wikipedia page on Mombasa was vandalized to alter the information just five days prior.

18. history seems pretty clear - in 1920 - the coastal strip that included Mombasa was a part of the
Protectorate of Kenya

"In 1920 the protectorate was united with the protectorate of Zanzibar, renamed Kenya, and made a crown colony, the coastal strip being known as the Kenya Protectorate."

http://encyclopedia.farlex.com/Republic+of+Kenya

"Jul 1920 - In July 1920, the interior of the East Africa Protectorate, embracing the White Highlands, was declared a British crown colony and was renamed Kenya Colony (after Mount Kenya, the most imposing geographical landmark in the country). The narrow coastal strip ...In July 1920, the interior of the East Africa Protectorate, embracing the White Highlands, was declared a British crown colony and was renamed Kenya Colony (after Mount Kenya, the most imposing geographical landmark in the country). The narrow coastal strip which, legally, was still part of the domain of the sultan of Zanzibar, officially became the Kenya Protectorate, although it was administered as part of Kenya Colony"

Doh!
