Because Brown is already running on he will work to repel it.and that would only give us 59 seats.looks like One of the Kennedy's should have ran

1. Nope, it's not dead. It means the Senate bill is it, word for word
The rules are, the House and Senate must pass an identical bill.

If Coakley loses, then the Senate bill will be presented as-is on the House floor. The pressure to pas it will be enormous.

So if you want something from the House bill in the final bill, you want Coakley to win, otherwise the Senate bill as passed will be the final bill.

16. This thing is so fatally flawed
it should be killed.

I do not see how in the world government ordering citizens to BUY a private product is in any fashion constitutional. The minute this thing is signed, there'll be challenges in court. If the mandatory purchase is struck down, the rest of this stinking pile of horse crap is beyond tolerance.

PLEASE: Do it over and do it right. Use the VA or military health care as the guide. This can and should be done, but only in a fair, sustainable manner.

NO BILLION DOLLAR FAVORS TO BUY VOTES!

2. Nope, I'm sure they will work it out and the House will pass the identical Senate Bill
and so reconciliation won't be needed. But it will still be a serious setback if Dems cannot win in MA.

3. No doubt but it will be bad for the Dems
And quite frankly, I'd rather see reconciliation so that some of the good things from the House bill can make it into the final bill. The Senate bill has a lot of flaws and any final bill will still have a lot of flaws, but it can be better than the Senate bill, especially in how things are funded.

4. Interesting and perhaps not coincidental that MA HC bill is like the present Dem plans.
Romney care and so-called Obamacare are not at all dissimilar.

I haven't heard or seen anything about what impact that might or might not be having in this case, though.

15. RomneyCare and the Senate's HCR are nearly identical
and one could argue that the Senate HCR is worse that RomneyCare.

13. Yes, absolutely, we need to keep this seat. I am not even from Mass and I donated.
Brown is a cookie cutter, run of the mill average Republican obstructionist. He would be taking the tax payers money just to say no.

The House could accept the Senate bill as-is, or better, Senate Democrats could accept an improved bill, and pass it with 51-59 votes by using the nuclear option. Of course, the latter would require them to stop being cowards and weaklings, and they may not have it in them.

That said, I very much want for Martha Coakley to win; a loss in Massachusetts would be hideous. But this we-need-60 crap is nonsense and the source of many of our woes and sad legislative compromises that are disillusioning our base, which doubtlessly accounts in part for Martha Coakley's not-so-impressive poll numbers.

14. The Senate version or the House version?
The Emmanuel Goldstein alarm bells don't work anymore!

I don't give a rat's ass about the Senate version and its middle class tax on health benefits.

I do care about the House version.

The last time I checked, Martha Coakley had a comfortable 15-point lead with less than a week to go. I fully expect her to win!

As to Scott Brown, there is this:

According to a review of Brown's 2008 financial disclosure report -- which was filed April 2009 and appears to be the most current document available -- Brown and his wife own (at least then) five separate properties. The list includes a 3,000-square-foot home near a lake in Wrentham, Massachusetts, a condo in Boston and a time share in Aruba.

Below are the details:

70 Hayden Woods, Wrentham, MA: A 3,000 squared-foot single-family house that is the current principal residence of Brown and his family. The house lies off a cul-de-sac in a recently developed neighborhood near a small lake is nearby. According to financial disclosures, it is valued at $100,000 or more.

1840 Commonwealth Avenue #11-14, Brighton, MA 02135. In October 2007 Brown and wife Gail purchased what property records indicate is two condominium units at 1840 Commonwealth Avenue in the Brighton neighborhood of the city of Boston. The assessed value for #11 is $60,000 to $100,000; for #14 it is $100,000 or more

1870 Commonwealth Avenue #8, Brighton, MA. Brown's 2008 SFI reports ownership of this unit, with a net income derived from it of $1,001 to $5,000. The property itself is valued at $100,00 or more

33 Ocean View Ave. Rye, NH. This property is listed as Brown's second home with an asset value greater than $100,000.

and health insurance stocks would tumble.
