When can we celebrate the end of Bush's depression and his foolish wars? |
|
Last year at this time we were celebrating the end of the worst pResidency in the history of the United States. Yet his legacy of failure remains. Worse, we spent 2 trillion dollars to protect ourselves from Arab terrorists and guess what? We are no safer today than we were on 9/11. This, was supposedly his biggest success! Oh yes, he didn't respond to Katrina and his housing bubble put us in a depression, but he protected us from Arab terrorists. Yeah, so why is his Homeland Security Department as incompetent as the non-united intelligence departments were on 9/11? His presidency left America in much worse shape than any in American history. W stands for Worst.

1. Probably some years after a significant number of Americans start caring. |

Caring enough to give up on some cherished but toxic memes, and do something.

2. I think its the addage.."doing the same thing and expecting different results" |
|
In order for things to change, you need to do things different.
We need job programs, training programs, a livable wage, affordable health care, and end to outsourcing, an "America First" attitude and renewal with real leadership.
We have had nothing that even begins to approach these ideas. The banks are not lending and as long as the money supply is shut off.. there can be no recovery, only misery.
I might add that the money supply has not been cut off to the military or big corporations. It has only been cut off to middle class working Americans.

5. if you don't want the responsibility, don't take the job |
|
Historians will correctly lay the blame on Bush, but the economy and wars belong to Obama now. We need to stop letting him complain that he inherited the situations and expect him to start taking ownership. Part of that is letting him know that they we understand them to belong to him now.
In all the jobs I've had, when someone takes over a problem, they are expected to own it, and fix it, then they can place blame. I can say "my project is late because of the guy before me" all I want, but my manager and clients don't care (and don't want to hear about it). They want to know what I am doing to get back on schedule.
For now, I consider the things you mention to be "Obama's economy" and "Obama's foolish wars".

What shitheads, luxuriating in blaming the new employee for the mess. I don't support they offer much support in fixing it, either.
Taking responsibility for what one does is one thing, letting others stomp all over you by letting them get you to take blame that is not yours is just weak.
Obama will always have inherited these wars, no matter what he does - it will be judged only from the point he took over.

and can't borrow any more. I'm guessing that won't be too long, since China, the new super-power, will be reluctant to loan us money even to buy the arms with Chinese-manufactured components, if they are to be used to to thwart their imperial and commercial interests. As for the depression, that's a more permanent condition. On the upside, if we curtail military spending, we might gradually be able to rebuild the American economy, but that is a long-term project.

That's an unwarranted conclusion, IMO.
We can never be 100% safe. But avoiding Republicans in charge of the executive branch and putting competent people there will help.
