5. I don't get it either
I just sent a donation to Catholic Relief Services. I always donate to them when there is a disaster. Did the same with NOLA and also the tsunami relief efforts in the past.

11. One of my college boyfriends was Haitian American...
.... he majored in "Concrete Management" .... basically started the program at our University. One of his reasons for doing so was his family owns a concrete business in Haiti.

I used to kid him, "oh! You're going to be driving one of those mixing trucks! how funny!" (He was one of the youngest PhD's to graduate from Tennessee State so the idea of him switching to a construction major was very funny to me. I thought it was silly for him to "waste" his time on such a thing.)

It pains me now to see the irony of how wrong I was.

12. Chuck Todd said tonight....
... that basically the US was at this point the reason anything was able to get done in these early hours. The Haitian government couldn't handle it and the UN, because of their own losses there was having problems doing their job. Because of our already established presence there (Thank you Bill!) we were able to move quickly. Until things get more organized, we're it.

29. And doing so in the most gracious and calm way. I just heard
Nancy Pelosi introducing him to members of the House, and while d don't remember the exact quotes, it was about how he handled this Haiti thing, while working simultaneity on health care, and she used the words "great president" more than once. It was great to hear. This guy gets so much crap, he deserves some hugs.
