2. The candidate we have who is running, Martha Coakley is wonderful, |
|
and we will win to increase the number of women in the Senate!
I support Martha Coakley.

15. Increasing the number of women in the Senate shouldn't be a goal in and of itself |
|
Because nobody needs anymore Diane Feinsteins, Susan Collins, or Olympia Snowes. Or in the House, anymore Michelle Bachmanns or Jane Harmans.
Now on the other hand, more Barbara Boxers or Lynn Woolseys would be great.

3. Joe didn't want it. He was really the only one with a history or the desire. |

5. If one of them had the desire, I'm sure they would have. |

Maybe the fire wasn't there.

6. I personally wish that Vicky had run... |
|
As much as she has apparently campaigned for Coakly, she might as well have been running herself. She comes across very well.

8. This is not the Kennedy seat. This is the seat of the people of MA. |
|
Edited on Sun Jan-17-10 04:39 PM by Mass
If there is ONE point that is working very strong in Brown's attacks, it is the notion that it is NOT the Kennedy's seat, that it is about us. That would have been a terrible idea, particularly considering that, with the exception of Joe Kennedy, none had a valid claim to the seat.
Kennedy was elected again and again because he was a great senator, not because he was a Kennedy.

10. Unfortunately, there IS a Kennedy running for that seat-but he's not related to |
|
THE Kennedys. I'm afraid a small number of people will just see the name and vote for him.

12. No one should be forced to run. Lots of people related to our greatest politicians |

never have a desire to run.

13. There is a Kennedy running: |

http://joekennedyforsenate.com/But I would argue that party is a more important reason than genetics or name.

16. If Kennedys want to be in politics, they'd probably hold lesser office like congressman first. |
|
Jumping straight to Senate is a bit presumptuous.
