Khazei's campaign just sent me an email urging me to vote for Coakley
I'm assuming the rest of his canvassers got the same one. I'm sorry it came to this, that MA democrats have to be urged to vote for the Democratic candidate. Coakley had my vote (I was perfectly happy with her, Khazei, or Capuano), but I can read this writing on the wall.

I've done some phone-banking for Coakley (she didn't even have a call out for them until 12 days ago) and I'm furious. This campaign has been pieced together with spit and bailing wire. This should have been a walk, but the first thing I learned in high school football is that the easiest way to make a walk hard is to assume it's going to be a walk.

People I called are pissed. Liberals were screaming at me about HCR as a giveaway to insurance companies, and moderates and conservatives were screaming at me about HCR as a surrender of individual liberty, and the worst part is at some level I agreed with both of them.

I think Coakley will squeak through, from my non-scientific phone bank sample: people were grudgingly willing to not give Ted Kennedy's seat to Brown (and, yes, I whored out his name for this: forgive me, God) but I don't think that can hold outside of MA or for another year.

Brace for it, is all I'm saying.

I'm phone banking for the candidate I didn't vote for in the primary. What do you want?
