Help this native Californian out |
|
Edited on Mon Jan-18-10 06:45 PM by senseandsensibility
I grew up idolizing Ted Kennedy. Naturally, I assumed he would be even more revered in his native Mass. His recent death was emotional and heartbreaking. The timing, right before the realization of his life's work, was poignant and tragic.
From an east coast, or even better, a Mass. perspective, why is this happening? Needless to say, my efforts to understand it are not being helped by the corporate media's cheerleading for Brown.
The whole situation in unfathomable to people in other parts of the country. We really don't get it. Even the most rudimentary of explanations would be appreciated. ;(

23. Bussed in from other parts of the State? I hope they got them |
|
out of State so they won't be able to vote.
The Reps always seem to be organized enough to bus in these types of people -- and they've had some snazzy busses, too! I understand they're getting the funds from Big Business, but I wish we were organized enough to bus people in, even using school busses.

3. If you idolized Ted K.,, you won't understand how the rest of the country feels anyway |
|
In my upper midwestern state, we can't see why Ted Kennedy was idolized in any way. Sorry if that's an obviously unpopular opinion here, but it's reality.

Well, why don't you try to explain? I'm sure you have excellent reasons for not liking Kennedy.

Across that way. Many factors are at play not just one thing and honestly it really doesn't matter.

but I do think it matters, if only to prevent this from happening again. I can't get any real explanation from TV, obviously. I trust DUers to tell me and the rest of the country what's really going on. We do need to understand this.

has made some gaffes. The media is in the tank for Brown. He has the support of the teabaggers, media and hasn't made the same mistakes of Coakley. The polls have been all over the place but they are showing Brown is winning over independents and is getting a larger amount of support from Dems than Coakley is getting from Repubs. Some of the polls look fishy but that is the way I have been reading them. Coakley according to. The polls simply has not made her case to the people as well as Brown. It is difficult but Martha is no Teddy and Martha seems to have taken things for granted. I honestly hope that the rallies by Bill Clinton and President Obama have helped along with the support of Vicki Kennedy. I understand that the unions, womens groups and various progressive groups have been pushing hard for Coakley. I am hoping that it will make the difference along with the phone banking being done by DUers and others on various sites. I want the media. And various pollsters to be wrong but I am prepared for the worst.

16. We need a third party clown, that would serve as"none of the above". |
|
We need some jamoke, a real fool, to serve as the even though he wont win, a black eye for the party in power you intend the message for. Brown is a tool. The only tool they have. And all that has happened, can be interpreted as sketchy. Weall know that Bush necessitated all this. They might not. And Romney might have poisined the well, much like bush did to health care with his stupid drug program.
